Obituary of MABLE P. STEVENS
Mable P. Stevens, 97, Florence, retired telephone operator who had 25 years of service with Southwestern Bell before retiring in 1955, died March 3, 2000, at St. Luke Living Center in Marion.

Services were held Tuesday morning at Florence Christian Church with the Rev. Harold Brown and the Rev. Steve Thaden officiating.

Music was by Cheryl Doty, vocalist, and Dolly Soyez, organist. 
Casket bearers were Douglas Mann, Donald Mann, Donald Willits, Mark Slater, Richard Miller, Mike Claypool, and William Olenick.

Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Memorial funds have been established at the church and at Florentine Senior 
Center in Florence.

Born May 14, 1902, at Plymouth, she was the daughter of William and Louisa Jones. She was married to Dwight C. Stevens on July 19, 1926, at Satana. He died in 1983. She also was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Esther Sinclair. She taught school for several years.

The family moved to Florence in 1941. She was a member of Florence Christian Church, Rebekah Lodge, and Telephone Pioneers of America.

Survivors include son Dewey Stevens of Florence; daughter, Dona Jane Mann of Wichita; nine grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and three great-great-great-grandchildren.
