Obituary of SUSIE SCHMIDT

Susie Schmidt, 87 died today, Feb. 7, 2000, at Bethel Home Inc., Montezuma, where she had been a resident.

She was born Nov. 11, 1912, at Durham, the daughter of Sam J. and Minnie (Schmidt) Schmidt. The family moved to Montezuma in 1917.

A homemaker, Mrs. Schmidt was a member of Church of God in Christ Mennonite, Montezuma.

On March 8, 1936, she married Elmer B. Schmidt at Montezuma. He survives.

She is also survived by a son, Melvin Schmidt, Cyrus, Minn.; a daughter, Margaret Brandt, Halstead; a brother, Henry Schmidt, Montezuma; four sisters, Alice Smith, Alma O. Dirks and Dorothy Schmidt, all of Montezuma, and Irene Dirks, Wilcox, Ariz.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, LeeVern Schmidt; an infant brother; two infant sisters; and an infant daughter, Clara Schmidt.

Funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Church of God in Christ Mennonite, Montezuma. Charles Schmidt, Edwin Classen and Glen Yost, ministers, will officiate. Burial will follow in North Mennonite Cemetery, Montezuma.

Visitation hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Montezuma Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to Bethel Home Inc., in care of the funeral home.
