Obituary of WILLIAM "BILL" HIEBERT
William "Bill" Hiebert, 85, died May 28, 2000, at his home in Hillsboro.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, at First Mennonite Church, Hillsboro, with Pastor Ruth Penner officiating.

Burial will be in the Lehigh Cemetery.

Born Sept. 12, 1914, at Beaver City, Okla., he was the youngest of six children of Cornelius J. and Wilhelmine "Minnie" (Unruh) Hiebert.

When he was four, the family moved to Goessel and later moved to the Lehigh community where he attended school. Following school he worked at Banman's Grocery.

On Feb. 9, 1941, he was married to Erma Stubby at Lehigh. That same year he chose to enter CPS service, and served four years.

The couple moved to Hillsboro in 1946 where he worked in grocery stores until 1962 when he began working at Cooperative Grain and Supply, a job he held for 17 years.

Following retirement, he was active in senior center affairs, delivered meals, and drove the van on tours.

He was a member of First Mennonite Church.

Survivors include his wife, Erma, of Hillsboro; son, Calvin J. Hiebert of Goessel; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

A memorial fund has been established in his name at the church.
