George died in Kansas on 9 February 1872. His wife, Sarah filed pension papers. Many affidavits were filed. It mentions S. N. BLYTHE, possibly related to Sarah. Her maiden name was Blythe. The year-old baby was my maternal Grandmother, Martha. The LEMKEY family appears to have been Germans from Russia or Prussia as they spoke Plattdeutsch. Their religion is not known, but Freida LEMKEY's maiden name was WAHL, which is Jewish. Between 1892 and 1911, six more children were born. The LEMKEY's moved for a time to Hobart, Oklahoma. Freida LEMKEY died in Marion, Kansas in 1915. August LEMKEY died in Tulsa County, Oklahoma in 1919. Search is for any information in Marion, Marion County, Kansas on the August LEMKEY family. My Grandmother, Martha LEMKEY married John VAN DER LINDE in Oklahoma and moved back to Marion, Kansas in August 1912 which is when and where my mother, Lillian (VAN DER LINDE) WIERENGA was born, just before the VAN DER LINDE's moved to South Dakota in September 1912. I am led to believe they ended up in Marion County. Possibly in the Durham area. The children were; Eva, b: 12 November 1852; Andreas Tobias, b: 15 June 1855; Helena, b: 19 October 1857; Jakob Tobias, b: 12 March 1859; Henrich Tobias, b: 9 October 1863 and Maria, b: 15 August 1868. Tobias and Helena had one child named Peter, b: 1874 and possibly more. Andreas married Eva on 1 December 1879, the daughter of Andreas Peter SCHMIDT and Sophia A. DECKER. Jakob married Helena on 23 June 1883, the daughter of Benjamin H. KOHN and Anna. Heinrich (Henry?) Tobias married Mary UNRUH on 19 December 1886, the daughter of David H. UNRUH and Susannah WEDEL. Maria married Jacob on 6 December 18??, the son of Benjamin H. SCHMIDT. Andreas and Eva KOHN had at least eight of their children born in and around Durham, Marion County. John, b: 12 September 1881; Sophina, b: 23 August 1883; Elmer, b: 26 September 1886; Emma, b: 26 September 1888; Ralph, b: 13 December 1890; Philbina, b: 31 December 1892; Daniel, b: 3 March 1895 and Emil Henry, b: 7 February 1897. KASPER, who was born in Poland on 11 April 1844 and died in Marion, Kansas on 6 October 1930. His death certificate lists a Heinrich KASPER as father, but no further information.
