His name was N. S. Oscar MYERS. As of now we don't know what the N. S. was for. Best information is that he was one of 4 children born to Ira MYERS. Ira had two wives, one of which was Myrtle ??. The other's name is not known, nor do I know which of the two wives the children were from. The birthdate for N. S. Oscar MYERS was 1885/1887. Best information is that siblings included Roy MYERS, Myrtle MYERS and Carrie MYERS. The family lived in the city of Marion in Marion County. It is thought that Ira came from Indiana by wagon train drawn by oxen in the mid 1800s. N. S. Oscar MYERS was married to Libbie Leona DAVIS on 17 September 1913in Long Beach, California. They had their first son, Fay Clinton MYERS (my father) on 18 July 1914 in Phoenix, Arizona then returned to Marion, Kansas where two more children were born, Otis Clayton MYERS, b: 3 October 1915 and Hazel Madeline MYERS, b: 24 October 1917. They had a son named William Francis EDMUNDS, born in 1891 in Marion, Kansas. He was my Grandfather. I am doing family research and would appreciate any help. RAMBO...MYERS Sherman Klassen (shklassen@aol.com) 23 June 1999 I am searching for information on my family that are buried in the Doyle Valley Cemetery in Marion, Kansas. Alfred RAMBO was born in 1835 and died in 1920. He was married to Elmira? She died in 1908. Their daughter Agatha (RAMBO) MYERS was born in 1870 and died in 1919. William E. MYERS was born in 1856 and died in 1910. They are all buried in the Doyle Valley Cemetery. I have not been able to find any information on any of them. I would appreciate any information. SCHNEIDER Edward Hiebert (red-ed@webtv.net) 15 April 1999 I am looking for any information, particularly, date of birth, date of death, and place of burial on a Heinrich SCHNEIDER and a Wilhelmina SCHNEIDER. He would have been born about 1847 and she about 1850. They are shown on the passenger list for the S.S. Kaiser Wilhelm der Gross, which landed in New York on September 26, 1900, as being U.S. citizens, residents of Hillsboro, Marion County, Kansas and being 53 and 50 years old, respectively. They were apparently in the company of Christian PFEIFFER, who is buried in the Lehigh Mennonite Cemetery (Marion County). KLEIN/KLINE Edward Hiebert (red-ed@webtv.net) 15 April 1999 I am looking for any information, particularly, exact date of birth, date of death, and location of burial for a Peter KLEIN/KLINE, born in Prussia in May of 1820. The 1900 U.S. Census shows him living with his brother, Ephraim KLEIN/KLINE in Wilson Township, Marion County, Kansas. His brother is buried in the Ebenfield Cemetery. FUCHS Lois Herth (lherth8345@aol.com) 6 April 1999 I received today in the mail from the National Archives, a Patent for homestead in Oklahoma for George FUCHS. In it was his intention for citizenship from Marion County, Kansas. The family landed in New York in 1888 and went to Kansas. But we could never find any trace of them there. We looked in Dickinson County, my mother-in-law said she was born in Lehigh, Kansas. Nothing in the census, etc. Would there be any further information that the county might have? Or is this all the person had to sign? Was hoping there were names required of his parents or something in Russia. Any information would be appreciated. DeLONG D. J. Their names were Jesse DeLONG and Martha (SHROYER) DeLONG. They had at least two daughters, Cora and Elma. Cora married Lawrence GILLET at the age of 15 in 1891. She died in 1934 (location unknown, as she was not living with Lawrence at that time). Any help appreciated! MADDOX on 13 February 1859. Children were: Rebecca Jane, Madison Willey (Matt), Caroline, Thomas Jefferson (Jeff), Robert Elmer, John Taylor, Iva Lurena, Mable Irene. There are town of us researching this line, and we have some area where we disagree in our research an obituary would help resolve this. If anyone could direct me toward someone who could do a lookup, I would be most grateful. HERALD Donna Pflaum (topoftexas@juno.com) 24 March 1999 Seeking information on Leona 'Susie' (MARR) HERALD, wife of David P. HERALD, 1833-1925. Children were: Anna, Blanche and Yates Byron, born 1 June 1878 in Peabody, Kansas. Family also lived in Durham, Kansas where Yates Byron owned a butcher shop. We have no dates on Leona and only two pictures of her as a teen. We have quite a picture history of the other family members, which leads me to believe Leona died young. Is there a cemetery book for Marion County, or newspaper archives available where I might find an obituary for Leona. We have quite a few documents of land purchases for the men of this family. SHEETS Christine Payne (cissiep@aol.com) 11 March 1999 I am searching for the earlier origins of Jesse SHEETS, who was in Ness County, Kansas by 1884, when his first child was born, Leo Ross SHEETS. Jesse fought in the Civil War in the 101st Kansas Calvary. After the war he moved to Marion County, where his son, Leo Ross was raised. Jesse died in 1915 in Marion. His wife, Nancy Jane (GUFFEY) SHEETS died in 1912 in Marion. Where was Jesse born and who were his parents? Joseph Notrthcott HANNAFORD was a physician in Marion Center from about 1875. His father, Roger HANNAFORD, moved the rest of the family to Wilson Township about 1876. Other children of Roger HANNAFORD were: William Orr HANNAFORD, Edward HANNAFORD, A. L. HANNAFORD, Mary Elizabeth, Julia Carson and Margaret HANNAFORD. After Joseph Northcott HANNAFORD's wife's death, he married three more times. To Lydia (GIBSON) TIDYMAN, Nettie (HOOPS) THOMPSON and then to Bena HOUSER all form Marion County. Any information would be greatly appreciated. FISHER...DUNN Judy Lutt (judyl105@aol.com) 22 February 1999 Looking for any information on Fanny Ann. First married to William James FISHER, abt. 1860. She was born someplace in Iowa about 1839. He was born someplace in Iowa about 1830. They lived in Coffey County in the late 1860s. Moved to Marion County, (not found on 1870 census). In 1874, due to drought and grasshoppers, started return trip to either Iowa or Coffey County, where I believe she had family. They got as far as Saffordville, in Chase County when she became quite ill. (She pregnant with 6th child) They stopped and stayed in an abandoned house. People started complaining of items missing. On 11 December 1874, Jacob JACOBSEN shot and killed William James FISHER for stealing hay. The 1875 census finds Fanny and her 6 children back in Marion County. she remarried to Timothy DUNN and had 2 or 3 children by him. The tornado of 1 April 1892, killed Fanny Ann and her two or three daughters by Mr. DUNN. Fanny is buried in Hillcrest Cemetery, Florence, Kansas. I have more information on this family and happy to share. Also have lots of blanks to fill in.
