Andrew Colton Family

The following information was submitted by Donna Brockish:

Andrew Colton was born 9 October, 1817 in Cayuga, New York. He was the son of Charles Colton and Polly Jones. He died 1 July, 1894 in Bigelow, Marshall County, Kansas and is buried in the Antioch cemetery.

Fidelia Reed was born 15 January, 1819 in Aeworth, New Hampshire. She was the daughter of Tillison Reed and Delia Deliverance Byam. She died 7 February, 1897 in Bigelow, Marshall County, Kansas, and is buried in the Antioch cemetery.

Andrew & Fidelia were married on 30 April, 1840 in Carthage, Illinois.

Their children:

George Washington was born 24 August 1841 in Carthage, Hancock Co., Illinois; he died 24 August 1841.
Alma Morton was born 22 February, 1842 in Carthage, Hancock Co., Illinois; she died in October, 1842
Philena Jane was born 24 August, 1844 in Carthage, Hancock Co., Illinois; she died 31 March 1869
Andrew Myron was born 18 January 1847 in Council Bluffs, Pottawatomie, Iowa
Melissa Annwas born 31 March 1849 in Council Bluffs, Iowa
Harriet Amanda was born 26 November, 1851 in Ogden, Weber Co., Utah
Ephraim D. was born 11 Feb, 1856 in Provo, Utah; he died in March, 1856
William Henry was born 19 April, 1857 in Provo, Utah
Mary Rosetta was born 19 April 1857 in Provo, Utah, and died in August, 1857

Miscellaneous notes for Andrew & Fidelia:

Andrew Colton served in the Civil War from the State of Kansas. He was a Private in Co. I 15th Regiment, Kansas Calvary. He enlisted 1 September, 1863 at Wathena, Kansas for 3 years. Mustered out 19 October, 1854 at Leavenworth, Kansas.

Andrew Myron Colton Family

The following information was submitted by Donna Brockish:

Andrew Myron Colton was born 18 January, 1847 in Coucil Bluffs, Pottawatomie County, Iowa, the son of Andrew Colton and Fidelia Reed. He died 9 April, 1920 in Bigelow, Marshall County, Kansas.

Viola Howell was born 18 April 1853 in Bonaparte, Iowa, the daughter of Eli Howell and Cassenda J. Stinson. She died 28 February, 1932 in Bigelow, Marshall County, Kansas.

Howell Ray was born 24 September, 1888 in Bigelow, Marshall County, Kansas
Paul Virgil was born 9 August, 1894 in Bigelow, Marshall County, Kansas. He died 25 June, 1896.

Miscellaneous information for Andrew and Viola:

Andrew Myron Colton served in the Civil War, 44th Missouri Vol. Infantry, Co. G. Enlisted September 3, 1864 and was discharged at St. Louis, Missouri July 17, 1865.

Family lore passed down from Andrew's mother (Fidelia Reed Colton) says that Andrew ran away from home at the age of 16 to serve in the Civil War shortly after his father had enlisted. He had to stand on his tiptoes to reach the required height to enlist. He told his mother he was going to work, and they found him marching with the other soldiers.

Nicholas Dier Family

The following family was submited by Donna Brockish

Nicholas Dier was born 27 August, 1829. He died 19 May, 1903 in Marshall County, Kansas, and is buried in the Frankfort cemetery. He is a son of Nicholas Dier (Duhr, Duhren) and Barbara Weisgerber.

Anna Mary Mosher was born 14 August, 1847 in Germany. She is a daugher of Casper Mosher. Mary died 26 July, 1911 in Chicago, Illinois. Nicholas and Anna were married 13 April, 1868 in Chicago.

Their children:

Casper, born 1871, died 25 September, 1891 in Chicago, Illinois
Elizabeth, born 16 May 1873 in Grand Point, Indiana; died 1 January, 1815 in Chicago, Illinois.

Benjamin M. Hale Family

The following family was submitted by Donna Brockish.

Benjamin M. Hale was born 9 August 1825 in Grayson Co., Virginia. He was the son of Lewis Hale and Celia Hall White. Benjamin died 18 April 1896 in Brown Co. Kansas, and is buried in the Capionia Cemetery. Benjamin married Sophia Jane Mitchell. Sophia awas born 16 June 1823 in Goochland Co., Virginia. She was a daughter of William Mitchell and Mary Magdelen LeMay. Sophia died 26 April 1892 in Brown Co., Kansas, and is also buried in the Capiona Cemetery.

Their children:
Thomas LeMay Hale was born 19 February 1866 in Ooltewah, Bradley Co. Tennessee. He died 26 February, 1920 in Bigelow, Marshall Marshall Co. Kansas. He is buried in the Antioch Cemetery.
Sarah M. was born 15 April 1846 in Ooltewah, Bradley Co. TN
William Lewis was born 4 September 1847 in Ooltewah, Bradley Co. Tennessee.
Mary Ann was born 30 July 1849 in Ooltewah, Bradley Co. Tennessee.
Granville Ambrose was born 27 August 1851 in Ooltewah, Bradley Co. Tennessee.
Elbert L. was born 27 August in Ooltewah, Bradley Co. Tennessee.

Margaret Zernila was born 30 August 1855 in Tennessee.
Henry Mtichell was born 10 April 1858 in Ooltewah, Bradley Co. Tennessee.
Edward R. was born 7 July 1860, and died 26 April 1882. He is buried in the Capioma Cemetery, west of Fairview, Kansas.
Robert R. was born 5 October 1862 in Ooltewah, Bradley Co. Tennessee. He died 17 May 1902, and is buried in the Antioch Cemetery in Bigelow.


Thomas LeMay Hale Family

The following family was submitted by Donna Brockish.

Thomas LeMay Hale was born 19 February, 1866 in Ooltewah, Bradley Co., Tennessee, a son of Benjamin M. Hale and Sophia Jane Mitchell. He died 26 February, 1920 in Bigelow, Marshall Co. Kansas, and is buried in the Antioch cemetery.

Jessie Violet Colton was born 16 December, 1870 in Council Grove, Kansas, a daughter of Andrew Myron Colton and Viola Howell. She died 9 April, 1942 in Bigelow, Marshall Co. Kansas, and is buried in the Antioch cemetery.

Thomas and Mary were married 25 December, 1889 in Bigelow, Marshall County Kansas.

Nicholas Frank Klein Family

The following family was submitted by Donna Brockish

Nicholas Frank Klein was born 4 March, 1863 in Geneva Illinois, a son of Peter Klein and Catherine Dier. He died 7 July, 1937 in Bigelow, Marshall Co., Kansas, and is buried in the Antioch cemetery in Bigelow.

Emma Ann Young was born 26 July, 1868 in Dallas Co., Iowa. She was a daughter of Daniel Young and Lucinda Buchanan. Emma died 12 November, 1941 in Bigelow, Marshall Co. Kansas, and is buried in the Antioch cemetery in Bigelow.

Nicholas and Emma were married 8 April, 1886 in Bigelow, Marshall Co., Kansas.

Catherine Ann, born 21 May 1887 in Bigelow
Louis Henry, born 4 May 1893 in Bigelow

Miscellaneous information: Nicholas Frank Klein was baptized May 6, 1863 at the Saint Mary Church of Elgin, Illinois. Parents listed were Peter cline and Catherine Deer. Nicholas and Emma were married in a double wedding ceremoney with his sister, Barbara Klein and Harvey A. Garver April 8, 1886.

Peter Klein Family

The following family was submited by Donna Brockish

Peter Klein was born 8 May, 1823 in Tawern, Rhineland, Germany. He was a son of Carl (Caroli) Klein and Elizabeth Hurth. Peter died 23 August, 1879 in Marshall County, Kansas, and is buried in Blue Rapids.

Catherine Dier was born 17 April, 1822. She was a daughter of Nicholas Dier (Duhr, Duhren) and Barbara Weisgerber. Catherine died 6 September, 1879 in Marshall County, Kansas, and is buried in Blue Rapids.

Peter and Catherine were married 23 October, 1850 in Tawern, Rhineland, Germany.

Nicholas George was born in February, 1851 in Tawern, Rhineland, Germany. He died 16 December, 1922 in Illinois
Peter H. was born 3 November, 1854 in Tawern, Rhineland, Germany. He died 13 Feb., 1905 in Zeandale, Kansas
John was born and died in 1857.
Valentine Henry was born 13 February, 1859 in Elgin, Kane, Illinois. He died 17 January, 1942 in Fairbury, Nebraska.
Nicholas Frank was born 4 March, 1863 in Geneva, Illinois, and died 7 July 1937 in Bigelow, Marshall County, Kansas. He is buried in the Antioch Cemetery in Bigelow.
Barbara Elizabeth was born 8 April, 1867. She died 13 June 1897 in Bigelow, Marshall County, Kansas, and is buried in the Antioch Cemetery in Bigelow.

Daniel Young Family

The following family was submited by Donna Brockish

Daniel Young was born 6 November, 1823 in Flourstown, Montgomery Co., Pennsylvania. He died 19 Aug 1887 in Bigelow, Marshall Co., Kansas, and is buried in the Reserville Cemetery in Bigelow.

Sarah Frease was born in 1826 in Pennsylvania, and died July 15, 1863 in Illinois.

Daniel and Sarah were married 9 February 1847 in Ashland Co., Ohio.

Their Children:
Mary Ellen was born 27 April 1848 in Illinois, and died 1 October 1925 in Vliets, Kansas. She is buried in the Vermillion Cemetery, Vermillion, Kansas.
John Wilson was born 8 August 1850
Lucinda Agnes was born 3 March 1852
Elvira Lucy was born 11 Feb 1854 in Henry Co., Illinois
Aramanthy Malinda was born 15 May 1856

After Sarah's death, Daniel married (2) Lucinda Buchanan Goodenough, a widow, 25 September 1864 in Henry County, Illinois.

Lucinda Buchanan was born 24 January 1839 in Ashland Co., Ohio. She died 2 February 1929 in Bigelow, Marshall Co. Kansas, and is buried in the Reserville Cemetery in Bigelow. An obituary for Lucinda appears on the obituary page.

Daniel Webster was born 26 June 1865 in Henry Co. Illinois
Howard Homer was born and died in 1867 in Whiteside Co., Illinois

Louis Aaron was born 14 May 1871 in Jackson Co., Kansas. He died in 1944 and is buried in the Antioch Cemetery in Bigelow.
