Births 1884-1911
Information

This index is an alphabetical listing to over 3,450 names listed in the 1997 publication Vital Records of Miami County, Kansas, transcribed by Patricia Merrill Hollingsworth for the Three Trails West Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Her transcription was based on LDS microfilm #1535822, items 1 and 2, which are copies of the original records at Paola, Miami County, Kansas.

This index was created from the index in Pat Hollingsworth's transcription of the LDS microfilm. This index differs from the one provided by her in that: 1) births and deaths were provided in two separtate indexes rather than being combined into one index, 2) each indexed name is shown on an individual line and includes both the surname and given name, this was done to facilitate searching on the internet, and 3) the few errors found have been corrected.

Not all the names listed represent births. The index includes cross references made to the parents of the child. In a number of cases no given name was provided for the child that was born. In most cases both the names of the mother and father are shown. Often the maiden name of the mother is provided.

Information provided in the transcription generally includes such things as: date of birth, name, race, sex, place of birth, name of father, age of father, nationality of father, birth place of father, occupation of father, name of mother, age of mother, place of birth of mother, numerical placement of this child in family, place of residence of family. Not all the information is provided for every record.

The number shown following the name is the page number shown in the transcription and, except for relative placement, do not reflect a specific location in the LDS microfilm.

Researchers seeking to review these records may wish to request microfilm 1535822 from the LDS Library in Salt Lake City.

Pat Hollingsworth's transcription of the LDS microfilm may be available via interlibrary loan and selected pages may be acquired by contacting the Library of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

You may also wish to contact the Miami Co. Genealogy Society and ask about obtaining copies of the original Miami County records for the specific individuals you are seeking. A fee is charged for assistance. Their address is PO Box 123, Paola, KS 66071.

Any errors made in transcribing the names are the responsibility of the compiler, who requests that such errors be brought to his attention.
