How to Contribute

How You Can Help

If you have magazine/newspaper articles (i.e, stories, special events, obituaries, etc.) that relate to Miami County individuals and families and wish to submit them for publication on the Miami County KSGenWeb pages, we would be happy to have them.

Only those articles which are older than 75 years old or which the copyright holder has given you written permission to use and publish electronically will be accepted. Articles covered by copyright and lacking the permission of the copyright holder can not be published.

Information that is less than 75 years old and lacking the permission of the copyright holder can be submitted as summaries/extracts of the key facts. They may not be a complete transcription of the original information.

For each article, the following information should be included: name of publication, author of article, publisher, place of publication, date of publication, page and column where found, source of information. In example: Louisburg Herald, no author, Louisburg Herald Co., Louisburg, KS, 27 Dec 1889, p. 1, col. 1, microfilm L 2095, Kansas State Historical Society, Topeka, KS.

The Digital Library of the KSGenWeb Archives is a non-commercial entity dedicated to free access to records of genealogical value. All documents contained herein may be freely copied for personal and library use, as long as the KSGenWeb Statement of Use remains attached. These records may not be published in any format, including electronic (web pages or CD's) and print, without prior written consent of the contributor.

We invite all contributions of transcribed records with genealogical value. This could range from wills and letters from your personal family records to indexes of your county's marriage records. There are many, many more examples, of course. Anything you have that you are willing to contribute will be greatfully accepted. For more information, contact Sean Furniss, KSGenWeb Miami County Coordinator.

We also accept any non-copyrighted printed materials that you have access to and would like to see transcribed and placed on-line. If the material is copyrighted and you are the copyright holder, please include written permission for use by The KSGenWeb Digital Library. These may be mailed to Sean Furniss, 11094 Saffold Way, Reston, VA 20190.
