Her death was caused by tumor of the brain and liver, with which she had been suffering for a long time. Mrs. Asher was born in Porter co., Indiana, March 23, 1852, and spending her early life there, she married Mr. Asher in 1871. Her maiden name was Minerva Pierce. Two years after their marriage they removed to Henderson co., Illinois, where they resided until 1877, removing from there to LaCygn, this State, and later to Greeley, from where they came to Paola six years ago. Mrs. Asher was a woman of excellent character. She was fond of home, was a patient, loving wife and mother and will be sadly missed by her family. She was a faithful Christian, uniting with the Methodist church in 1873. She was a member of the Ladies' Relief Corps and her spare moments were given to church work and to her lodge. She leaves a husband, two daughters and one son, the youngest, a daughter eleven years old [Ethel F.], the two eldest [James Harvey, Jr. and Jennie B. Henderson] are grown. She leaves also three brothers in Indiana [Warner A., Winfield S., and Andrew W. Pierce], a brother in Nebraska [Schuyler Pierce], a sister in Minnesota [Mary Genett ---], two half brothers in the Indian Territory [Bowman] and a half sister in Washington. The funeral services, conducted by Rev. S. L. Chase, under the auspices of the Ladies' Relief Corps, were held from the residence Tuesday afternoon. The remains were buried in the Paola cemetery."
