"Death of Mrs. Gaylord. - Mrs. Anna Gaylord, wife of Frank M. Gaylord, died at the family home in Axtell, Marshall county, Kansas, January 21, 1908. She had been sick since the first of December, and, until two weeks ago, all were confident of her recovery. Then she was taken with peritonitis and other complications rapidly set in. The best medical ability of their home county and of St. Joseph, Missouri, was employed, but from that day of her relapse, death seemed inevitable.

Anna was the second daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William D. Sheridan. Her full name was Sarah Ann Sheridan. She was born in Middle Creek township, this county, on the 12th day of August, 1872, and, with her parents, moved to Marshall county in 1879 ...

On the 5th day of October, 1899, Miss Sheridan and Frank M. Gaylord were married by Rev. Father Michael at Frankfort, Kansas ... No child was born to them.

The deceased leaves two brothers here, B. J. and Frank M. Sheridan: the older brother, A. V. Sheridan is in Northwestern Nebraska. Three sisters, Mrs. William Acker, of Vermillion, Kansas, and Mrs. George Flaherty and Mrs. John Scanlan, of Curly, Nebraska, also survive her. The relatives on her husband's side, are Mrs. J. M. Gaylord, the mother: Fred Gaylord and Nellie Gaylord ...

Services were held in Axtell, by Rev. Father Tayon, on Wednesday the 22nd, and burial was in the Catholic cemetery, east of Paola, on Thursday, the 23rd inst ... "

"Died Suddenly - Plina Gruver, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Gruver, of this city, died in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on February 4th, 1908, of rheumatism of the heart that came of grippe. He was in his 40th year - born in Kendall county, Illinois, November 17th, 1868. His early years were spent at home near Hillsdale. He got a common school education and started out in the world young.

Plina was never married and the relatives left are his parents here and brothers - Perry, Homer Charles and James Gruver, all of this county; also two sisters - Mrs. Ella Baugh, wife of M. K. Baugh, of Pasadena, California, and Minnie Hittle, wife of J. O. Hittle, in Southwestern, Kansas. At the time of his death he was in the livery business, and was taken suddenly. Mr. Gruver, the father, who was called to his side, got there after his death, and he said that the turn out to the funeral was very large. Plina stood high and had a host of friends. The body was temporarily placed in a vault at Minneapolis on February 8th."

"Died in Wichita. - Joseph Koehler died of Bright's disease at his home in Wichita, Kansas, on February 5th, 1908, aged 50 years, 4 months and 26 days. He was born in Naumburg, Germany, September 10th, 1857, and came to Miami county in 1878. Here he was married to Margaret McGrath, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert McGrath, on the 11th of November, 1884. A few years later they moved to Wichita, where they have lived ever since. Mr. Koehler was engaged in the real business at the time of his death.

The deceased leaves his wife and two daughters, Catherine and Elsie, both grown. Also two brothers in Paola, Jacob and Frank Koehler and another brother, Augustus, in Kansas City, Mo. Joe was popular everywhere and stood high as a man of integrity. The two Paola brothers went to Wichita last night and the funeral will probably be held there today."

"John E. McKinley died last Saturday morning, February 8th, at the home of his sister, Mrs. John Blaisdell, near the north school building. In 1901 he suffered an attack of locomotor ataxia, from which he never recovered.

Mr. McKinley was born in Petersburg, Illinois, October 12, 1853. In 1875 he went to Colorado, where he engaged in mining. Since 1902 he has made his home in Paola with Mr. and Mrs. Blaisdell. He never married.

Services were held at the home on Sunday evening, conducted by Rev. A. Z. McGogney. The body was taken to Liberty, Mo., that evening, where it was buried Monday morning.

Besides Mrs. Blaisdell, the deceased leaves on brother, C. C. McKinley, of Liberty, Mo., and three sisters - Mrs. Amelia Power, Mrs. M. A. Conn and Mrs. Chas. Zilly, all of Champaign, Illinois."

"Mrs. J. A. Wentz Dead. - Mrs. Margaret A. Wentz, wife of John A. Wentz, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs Robert Officer, in Hillsdale, Kansas, on the 23rd inst, after a ten days' sickness with pneumonia. She had gone to her daughter's a few weeks ago, leaving Mr. Wentz to look after things at home here, while she attended the bedside of the daughter who was sick at the time. It was found, after she was taken down, that it wouldn't do to move her, so she never reached home again. The body was taken to Antioch, Cooper county Mo., the former home of the Wentz family, for burial on the 25th inst.

Mrs. Wentz was born in Perry county, Pennsylvania, February 25, 1852, and was married to Mr. Wentz in Chicago in December, 1878. The family came to this county in 1901 from Missouri. Besides the husband and daughter, Mrs. Officer, there are three sons - Foster E., Cecil L. and Alvin T. Wentz. All are, like their parents, highly respected."
