"Died From Injuries"

"Valentine Pfannes, an old gentleman and father of A. J. Pfannes, of near Fontana, was struck by an auto driven by Clyde Graham on Main Street Sunday evening, about 6:00 o'clock. The car ran over Mr. Pfannes and he died two hours later from the effects of his injuries.

While Mr. Graham was not driving fast and the street was slippery. It seems we allow too much careless fast driving in the downtown section

Valentin Pfannes son of Sebastian Pfannes and Marianne Landwehr. Born in Bavaria, Germany on the 15 of July in 1845. Valentin came to this country in 1888. He lived on a farm in Miami County until 1898 then moved to Louisburg, Kansas where he resided until the death of his wife Anna Maria Hergenröther on August 9, 1917. He than moved in with his son Andrew who lived 5 miles south of Osawatomie on a farm in Beagle, Kansas, until his death, November 12, 1922.

He leaves one daughter and four sons to mourn his loss: Michael, who lives in Adrian, Minn., Mrs. John Henry, at Louisburg, Kansas, Andrew of near Osawatomie, John at Westphalia and Valentine at Manindor, North Dakota.

The funeral services were held at Wea, Kansas, in the Holy Rosary Church at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov.15. The remains were laid to rest in the Wea Cemetery beside his wife."
