"Death of Mrs. A. J. SMITH."

"Edith Duncan was born February 14, 1859 in Indiana. She was married to Alexander J. Smith June 30, 1878. To this union eight children were born, five of them preceding her in death. Her husband also departed this life April 28, 1926."

"She came to La Cygne with her husband and children in December, 1910, and located on a farm four and one half miles north of town where she lived until her death September 9, 1928."

"She leaves to mourn her loss, one daughter, Mrs. Emma Fort of Somerset, Kan.; two sons, Lewis, who has lived with his mother on the farm and Walter of La Cygne; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Everett Smith of Kansas City, Mo.; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. At the time of her death she was 69 years, 6 months and 25 days of age."

"Funeral services were held at the Christian church Monday at 2:30 and interment was made in Oak Lawn cemetery. Rev. Dawson conducted the services."

"Mrs. Edith Smith, mother of Walt and Lou Smith is very ill, caused by a stroke of paralysis."
