Microfilm Newspaper Collections Available Through Interlibrary Loan from the Kansas State Historical Society
The Kansas State Historical Society provides microfilms through interlibrary loan without charging for their use.
A searchable list of available newspaper microfilms is available. The microfilm numbers for the Fontana, Louisburg, Osawatomie and Paola newspapers have been extracted to facilitate their use. This database replaced the old typed lists on the KSHS website. It can be searched by city, title word or county. You can also limit your search by date ranges.
Patrons may borrow two reels of film for two weeks through their local library or participating LDS Family History Center. Patrons may use the film only in the borrowing library. The loan period is for three weeks, with no renewals. Information about their interlibrary loan program can be found at their web site.
The index was developed from information published by the Miami County Genealogy Society in their quarterly publication MICOGESOQU. The names indexed show the date of publication and name of the publication. General information about what was referenced is also provided.
The names indexed here are only the general records found in the newspapers. Births, divorces, marriages and deaths have all been indexed as part of a separate set of vital records to facilitate ease of use.
You can write to the Miami County Genealogy Society and ask for their assistance in doing research. You may also wish to order the microfilmed newspapers through interlibrary loan to search the records for yourself.
