Died at his home six miles northwest of town Tuesday, November 6, Mr. John Coons, aged 50 years. Mr. Coons was an old settler in the neighborhood having been here since the winter of 1874 and 1875. Coming with his father's family from Illinois, always a hard working, quiet earnest man, a good trusty neighbor, a loving careful considerate husband and father. About eleven years ago he was united in marriage to Miss Nellie Augustine and has since resided on the old family homestead. He leaves a wife and five children besides three brothers and three sisters. The sympathy of the whole community is extended to the family in their great sorrow. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. E. G. Coons, pastor of the Jefferson M. E. church at 1 o'clock Wednesday afternoon after which, attended by a large procession of relatives and friends, we laid all that was mortal in the beautiful Elmwood cemetery to await the final resurrection morn. |
