My husband's great grandfather was Samuel (C?)Broughton -orginally from
Indiana;he served in the 21st Illinois infantry; moved to Kansas where he
married Martha Ellen Childress in Independence,Ks. Dec. 5, 1872. They lived
somewhere near Cherryvale; address I found on back of picture says W.4th St. No.
of Cherryvale. They had 4 children Carrie A; James E.; Samuel H. (only lived 2
yrs.)and Ethel Blanche. The family later moved to Washington state. I found a
picture of old soldiers, titled "Old Soldiers Reunion" "Cherryvale, Ks." Looking
for info as to who Samuel's parents were. Also-does anyone else have the
soldiers picture or know anything about it?
Thanks

Shockey and his family lived in or around Cherryvale from around 1871 to 1884.
He was a civil war soldier and maybe in the picture. I do have some pictures of
him.

I need help on locating information on Benjamin, Bennie, Elwood, and Louetta

My great great grandparents:
Benjamin "WALLS" WALL
Born: Abt. 1824 in NC

Burial: Pleasantdale Cemetery, Montgomery, KS
Married: Bef. 1854 in NC
Census: 1885 in Cherryvale, Montgomery, KS (the only record I have found her
on!)
Where was she btw 1885 and 1916?
Children:
Bennie WALL (could be Benjamin)
Born: Bef. 1854
Died: ??
Burial:Pleasantdale Cemetery, Montgomery, KS (No headstone)
Does anyone have access to the cemetery index? I would appreciate birth and
death dates.
Robert Franklin WALL
Born: 05 Apr 1854 in Richmond, Forsyth, NC
Died: 28 Oct 1923 in Chanute, Montgomery, KS
Burial: 31 Cot 1923 in Pleasantdale Cemetery, Montgomery, KS

Elwood WALL
Born: Abt. 1862 in Indiana
Census: 1885 in Cherryvale, Montgomery, KS
Witness on brother Robert's marriage license in 1886
He seems to have disappeared after 1886.
Louetta WALL
Born: Abt. 1876 in Indiana
Census: 1885 in Cherryvale, Montgomery, KS (only record of her existence)
Since the 1885 census doesn't list relationships, I'm not sure if this is
Benjamin and Martha's daughter or perhaps granddaughter.
I've searched the North Carolina, Indiana and Kansas census records to no
avail.

Looking for George Washington Church or any Church surnames. George Washington
Church was born October 5, (think 1859) He was a peddler and traveled from town
to town selling his wares. We think he was adopted by the CHURCH family. He left
a settlement in Kansas or Oklahoma & we think died when the wagon overturned
during a flash flood. The wagon was later found overturned near a creek bed. It
was believed that the wagon was washed down the creek. His body was never found
& he was never heard from again. Believe GEORGE W. CHURCH came from PA. He was
married to a CARRIE S. MILLER, a Pennsylvania Dutch. They had one known child,
our grandfather, GEORGE AUGUSTUS CHURCH, b.Feb. 19, 1879 in Hewins, Ks. Married
MYRTIE MAE SHOOK, May 21, 1901 at Corbin City, Kansas. Would like any
information on this family...George A. and Myrtie Church are buried at a
cemetery in Cherryvale, Kansas where they lived.

Seeking information on Joab(b. March, 1835) and Sarah Bush(b. June 1840). After
leaving Indiana, they had a farm near the Cherryvale area. Their eldest daughter
was born in Indiana in May 1880, so I expect they arrived sometime after that.
They were counted in the 1900 census. My uncle recalls visiting the old farm
house in ruins sometime in the 1930's but can't recall much detail.
Joab and Sarah cared for William Joab Logan until the death of William's father
(Their son-in-law) around 1911.
Would like to know more about these people and what became of them.
Thanks for your help.
