My inquiry is about the RAY Family. Wm. RAY b:1740 Ire>PA>KY>OH>IN. They entered the Wilsey area with Robert, Albert and children. They are buried in Wilsey Cemetery I believe. My information says that Charles Ray and Webster Ray were owners of Delevan Lumber Company or known as William RAY Lumber Yard in the early 1900's. Do you have any references to news articles? The group was part of the Methodist Church, lived in Olive Branch, a daughter was married A. H. BUSHEY, Boggess FORD married the daughter of William Hooper, an editor. The main doctor in the area was Dr. RAY. The children were raised in Morris County. The children were; Harvey, Lucy and Georgia. Lucy was born May 1890 and Georgia was born January 1892. Harvey died in MO. He was a brakeman on a train and was married to Katie HALL and they had one son. I am interested in located heirs of Lucy, Georgia and Lucy. Family names written down from 1841-1919. Florince HANN was born at Parkerville in 1871 & John HANN also in 1873. I did look at your list of surnames, but could not see any HANN listed. I'm not personally related to these people, but would like to know if there are any existing family members left who would be interested in reclaiming their family bible maybe for sentimental value etc ... It possibly was located near White City or Parkerville. I believe my parents, Lena WAFLER and my father Clarence DAY first met there as children in about 1907 - 1908. ---------------------------- McALLISTER...SHARP SHOEMAKER...WAITE...MESSER Walton Rowell (rowell@wt.net) 8 November 2005 George & Louisa (Lou) McALLISTER lived in Parkerville, Morris County, in a cottage across the road from the red brick school until Lou's death 5/29/39. The cottage has been remodeled and the detached earthen cellar is still there. George and Lou had a son, Burt who went to Chicago, Illinois to work on the RR passenger train serving New York - married Isadore WAITE and died at 36 from ruptured appendix. A few months later a daughter, Edith, was born. Four years latter Isadore died and her Uncle raised Edith. At age 14 Edith came to live with her grandmother, Lou McALLISTER, until she married my father Pierson ROWELL. Lou's brother was Brad SHARP who had a barbershop in Parkerville. I am told he was Marshall there in the early 1900's. He died in 1921 and was taken back to Indiana for burial. He was married to Carrie GRAVES (2nd wife). He was my great-grandfather. I am trying to go back from him with no success. Do the marriage records there give any information on the extended family (i.e. names of parents, etc.)? We have a birth date for him of 22 Sept 1880 in Martinsville, Morgan, Indiana. I went there when I was on business and couldn't find any information of a birth for him or parents. I have been there several times, my Great-Grandparents and Great-Great-Grandparents are buried there. It is very well kept and I am trying to find out who owns the land and who maintains the cemetery. My Grandfather was Clyde WALLACE, his wife was Rosealee (sp). My father was Clyde W. WALLACE, Jr., his first wife was Jacqueline, his second was Geniva (sp). Geniva may still be alive. My Grandfather was Robert George LAY, born in 1901. He had several brothers and sisters and they lived on a family farm near Wilsey, I believe. My Great-Uncle, Walter LAY and his wife Lottie worked a farm until they sold it and moved to Council Grove in the early 1960s. Walter and Lottie had 60 or 7 children who grew up in the Council Grove area. Walter and Lottie died around 1988-1989 and are buried in a church cemetery in Council Grove along with their Grandson, Darren who died as a young teen in the early 1980s. I think she died between 1870 and 1875 as she was not in the state census and he must have died between 1875 and 1880 as he was not listed in 1880 and children were scattered - the younger ones back with family in Ohio. I would like to find the cemetery where they are buried.
