THE LARNED EAGLE-OPTIC, 26 May 1899
Obituary of MARY A. TENNIS
Death’s Doings

Mrs. Mary A. Tennis died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Eva Bennyworth, in this city, Monday night, May 22nd, aged eighty-seven years and twenty-two days. The deceased was a native of Kentucky, having been born in Warren county, that state, in 1812. She came to Kansas in 1877, and had been a resident of this county ever since. She had been an invalid for a long time, and for eight months prior to her death had not left her bed. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, and died in the hopes of a glorious immortality. The funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon at three o’clock by Rev. C. D. Hestwood. The remains were buried in the Larned cemetery. Two daughters survive the deceased, Mrs. Eva Bennyworth, of this city, and Mrs. Bessie Bowman, whose home is in Ohio.
