"We live in deeds not years, in feelings not in figures on a dial. We should count time by heart throbs. He most lives who thinks the most, feels the noblest, acts the best." While the above is true, it is a great privilege (sic) to have lived more than seventy five years. According to the returns of the township trustees the following are the people of Pottawatomie county who are sevety-five or more years of age:

The Oldest person in the county is Dr. Peter Dockler of Onaga, commonly known as the "Old French Dottor." He has started upon the second century of his life. He was born October 5, 1805. Nancy Holder of Lincoln township has ninety-seven years to her credit. Peter Barry of St Marys and Eva Cramer of Belvue are each said to be ninety years of age. It is noticeable that the old men predominate over the old women nearly two to one.

From the returns of the trustees, it appears that neither Vienna nor St. Clere have any inhabitants who are as much as 75 years of age. The trustee of Emmet township did not report a list of residents over twenty-one years of age.
