Doris Marie Humiston Obituary THE HUTCHINSON NEWSDORIS MARIE HUMISTON Doris Marie Humiston, 73, 1202 East 23rd, died May 6, 1996, at Golden Plains Health Center, Hutchinson. She was born Sept. 23, 1922, at Santa Fe, Kan., the daughter of Lloyd and Jane Sturdy Shufelberger. She was a 1940 graduate of Haven High School, and she attended Grace Hospital School of Nursing, Hutchinson. A longtime Hutchinson resident, she was co-owner of Doris & Eddie's Café, retiring in 1968. She was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, rural Haven. On Jan. 18, 1945, she married Edward O. "Eddie" Humiston at Hutchinson. He died Sept 8, 1974. Survivors include: a son, Roger, Dallas; a brother, Loren Shufelberger, Haysville; two sisters, Mildred VanCampen, Wichita, and Martha Mason, Hutchinson; and one granddaughter, Jacia Humiston. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Terry E. Deal presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association or to Golden Plains Health Center, Hutchinson, both in care of the mortuary.
