Abstracts:
J.C. Stratton, for eighteen years engaged in the mercantile business in Hutchinson, died about 1:30 this morning, at his home, 13 Sixth Avenue West, after an illness of a few weeks, at the age of 69 years. J.C. Stratton; Walter Stratton; John Stratton; Ed Stratton; Mrs. Leroy Maxey; Mrs. Grant Dawson; Will Stratton; James H Stratton; Frank Stratton; Mrs. Maud Fain; Mrs. J.C. Stratton J.C. Stratton was a native of Tennessee, near Nashville. Living in the midst of slave owners, he was loyal to the union and when the civil war broke out, he enlisted in the Fifteenth Missouri Cavalry. After the war, he came to Kansas, residing in the state for 44 years, in Cowley, Leavenworth and Wyandotte counties, coming to Reno County 18 years ago. He engaged in the furniture business under the firm name of Stratton & Sons. He died August 25, 1910. The widow and nine sons and daughters survive.
