Alfred S. Vance Obituary

Death of A. S. Vance

Father of R. W. Vance of This City Dies in Winfield.

A message was received here this morning by R. W. Vance telling of the death of his father, A. S. Vance in Winfield early this morning.  Mr. Vance had been in very poor health for the past few weeks.  He is survived by two sons, J. L. Vance of Winfield and R. W. Vance of this city.  Mrs. Vance died March 30 of this year.

Alfred S. Vance was born seventy-one years ago in Ohio, near Marietta, and came to Hutchinson in 1887.  He will be remembered by many of the older residents as having run the old water mill that was located at the corner of B and Main streets a number of years ago.  For many years he was engaged in the grain business at Corwin.

The body will be brought here for burial beside his wife in the Eastside cemetery.  No other funeral arrangements have been made pending word from relatives.
