The links in the table below will take you page by page through the photocopies we were able to obtain from the handwritten Swedish church book of the Swedish M. E. Church of Wayne. A big THANK YOU goes to Lucretta Jane Campbell Maddy of Wayne, Kansas for sharing this with us. This book contains ancestors from my family and other Swedish families who settled within Republic County, Kansas in the 1870s on.

The book is in bad shape. Pages are disintegrating and sticking together. This may be the last time we are able to hold this book in our hands and view these pages. I felt a sense of awe when I read through this book in the fall of 1998 and saw the names of my great grandparents (and other relatives) entered there.

The pages are recorded left to right, back to front in the book, and we attempted to photocopy and display them in that manner. However, not all pages could be phtocopied. You will have to view and search each page and this may be difficult due to the Swedish language, the poor condition of the book, and the size of the web page.

If you e-mail him, please be kind enough to request information on only one person at a time (giving all of the information you have, including (if known): name of the person you are researching and, if known, parents names, birth date, place of birth, emigration date, place of arrival in US, destination upon arrival in US, people who may have emigrated with your ancestor).

While surfing the web, I found a posting from a Susanne Åkerfeldt in Sweden. This is the Lord's Prayer in Swedish and is called Fader vår (Our Father). I thought you might enjoy seeing it.

cross

Fader vår som är i himmelen.
Helgat varde ditt namn, tillkomme ditt rike.
Ske din vilja såsom i himmelsen så ock på jorden.
Vårt dagliga bröd giv oss i dag.
Förlat oss våra skulder såsom
Vi ock förlata dem oss skyldiga äro.
Inled oss icke I frestelse, utan fräls oss ifrån ondo.
Ty riket är ditt och makten och härligheten i evighet.
Amen
