Emery M. Comeau, 86, Stockton, died Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at the Solomon Valley Manor, Stockton.  He was born Nov. 3, 1923, to Adlor and Mary (Malto) Comeau.  He was a mechanic. He served in the Marines during World War II.  He married Ruth Arrington in 1947. He later married Leona. She preceded him in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Baxter, Stockton; four sisters, Mary Rose, Leona, Stella and Orena; eight grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona; and a daughter, Karen Oss.

Bernice Herman, 74, Plainville, died Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009, at her home.  She was born Feb. 10, 1935, in McCracken to Daniel and Anna (McGaughey) Casey. She graduated from Bazine High School.  She married Herb Herman on June 20, 1953, in Mc Cracken. He preceded her in death Jan. 25, 2008. She worked for Unrein Drug Store, Plainville.
Survivors include three daughters, Debbie Slater, Wichita, Lori Hill, Highlands Ranch, Colo., and Judy Wiggins, Oklahoma City; a brother, Edmund Casey, Hutchinson; two sisters, Rita Fitzpatrick, Basye, Va., and Neva Fehrenbach, Assaria; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Plainville; burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Friends can sign the book from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel, Plainville.
A Ladies Guild rosary will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, followed by a vigil at 7 p.m., both at the funeral chapel.

Irene Viola Kroeger, 83, died Friday, Dec. 11, 2009, from complications of a stroke at Brandon Woods at Alvamar, Lawrence.  She was born March 17, 1926, in Zurich to Frank and Johanna (Keller) Armbrister.  She married Arthur Adair Kroeger in October 1946 in Ellis. He preceded her in death Aug. 11, 2002. She was a homemaker and teacher of business education at Ellis High School. Many current teachers in USD 388 learned to type from "Mrs. Kroeger." By gifting her body to the University of Kansas Medical Center, even in death, she remains a teacher to a future generation of doctors.
Survivors include two sons, Glen, Zurich, and Melvin, Lawrence; a daughter, Linda Kroeger, Hays; a sister, Dorothy Mills, Rolla, Mo.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m.. Sunday at Christ Lutheran Church, Ellis; inurnment will be at a later date in Mount Hope Cemetery, Ellis.

Dorothy Marie Hinkhouse, 96, Stockton, formerly of Palco, died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009, at Solomon Valley Manor, Stockton.  She was born May 14, 1913, near Cawker City to Joseph and Emma (Moxter) Roberts. She was a 1930 graduate of Cawker City High School.  She married Darrell Hinkhouse on July 24, 1953, in Palco. He preceded her in death Nov. 4, 1982. She taught at Waconda, Granite Creek and Beloit public school, spending 23 years as a teacher.
Survivors include 17 nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Palco United Methodist Church; burial in Pleasant View Cemetery, Palco.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Mosher-Kemp Family Funeral Home, 320 S.W. Second, Plainville, KS 67663, and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Monday at the church.

Eleanor Marie (Munsch) Basgall, 84, Russell, formerly of Plainville, died Friday, Dec.. 18, 2009, at Kay Pogue Hospice Center, Salina.   She was born May 11, 1925, near Schoenchen to Alexander and Pauline (Graf) Munsch. She attended school in Schoenchen.  She married Maurice J. Basgall on July 23, 1946, in Schoenchen. He preceded her in death Aug. 24, 1993. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Dave Basgall, Plainville, and Cliff Basgall, Russell; three daughters, Gladys Leiker, Russell, Judy Chorice, Blue Springs, Mo., and Sheila Gaschler, Ellis; four sisters, Darlene Bortz, Claflin, Thresa Basgall, Estella Brenning and Fritzie Weicken, all of La Crosse; 22 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Mary Louise; seven brothers; and five sisters.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Russell; burial will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Plainville.
Visitation will be until 5 p.m. today at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell.
A vigil will be at 7 p.m. today at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Russell.

Franklin L. Sissel, Frank was born in Pawnee, Oklahoma on March 26, 1943. His legacy will live on with one son, Allen, one daughter, LeNita and two step sons Jason and Matthew. He is very proud of his ten grandchildren, JorDawn, RaKelle, RodRick, JeDrick, Tianna, Terrin, Tasha, Levi, Zachary and Dena. Frank was blessed with his parents surviving him and has one brother, David, and two sisters, Kathryn and Beverly. He leaves behind his loving wife, Susan who was always Susie to him. Frank grew up on the Champlin lease where he enjoyed an extended family and being involved in rodeo. He graduated from Plainville High School in 1961 where he loved acting in the school plays. Frank discovered early on that he had the gift of making people feel comfortable and cared about so all his jobs involved service to others. He did get the opportunity to be a working cowboy in the cattle industry. He enjoyed swapping stories with friends, dancing, junque shopping, traveling and just hanging out with his wife and family. We will miss him terribly but know he is near and still watching over us. Visitation will be Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM at The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 E. Platte Avenue. Funeral Service is Friday, December 18, 2009 at 11:00 AM at The Springs Funeral Services. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery.

Mary M. Cress Flinn Cranmer, Bartlesville, Okla., formerly of Fort Worth, Texas, Borger, Texas, and Phillips, Texas, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009.  She was born Oct. 2, 1923, in Ellis County. She attended Fort Hays State College, majoring in nursing classes.  She married Milford R. Flinn on Feb. 26, 1943. She was a registered nurse for 25 years, retiring from Jane Phillips Episcopal Hospital in 1989.  She was president of the League of Women Voters, the garden club, Mother's club and many other organizations through the years.
Survivors include three sons, Ronald and wife, Patricia, Donald and wife, Terry, and Robert and wife, Judy; three daughters Anita Cross and husband, Bill, Fort Worth, Neva Thomas and husband, Edwin, Bella Vista, Ark., and Sharon Blythe, Austin, Texas; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Milford R. Flinn and Clinton S. Cranmer; and a son-in-law, John Blythe.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Memorial Park Cemetery

Victor Marcotte, 90, Hays, formerly of Zurich, died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at St. John's Nursing Home, Hays.  He was born March 24, 1919, in Loveland, Colo., to John and Rosa (Balthazor) Marcotte.  He married Josephine Bedore on Sept. 17, 1946, in Zurich. She preceded him in death April 21, 2000. He was an oilfield pumper. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II.
Survivors include a son, David Marcotte, Leoti; a daughter, Vicki Marcotte, Hays; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, James.
ervices will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Plainville; burial in St. Ann Cemetery, Zurich, with military honors by Reeder-Dinkel-Westhusin Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8871.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, both at the Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel, Plainville.  A Ladies Guild rosary will be at 3 p.m. Friday.  A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Friday, followed by a Knights of Columbus

Thomas J. Hrabe, 94, died Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at Hays Medical Center.  He was born Jan. 14, 1915, near Plainville to Joseph and Agnes (Harmacek) Hrabe.  He was a retired farmer.
Survivors include two daughters, Vesta Russell, Natoma, and Venita Cole, Stockton; three step-sons, Robert Brooks, Commerce City, Colo., James Brooks, Belleview, Neb., and Michael Brooks, Arlington, Va.; a sister, Irene Russ, Natoma; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and 20 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Esther Russ in 1967 and Geraldine Metz Brooks in 1996; a son, Verlan Jo; a grandson; and a great-grandson.
Services were today at United Methodist Church, Plainville.

Elva Castka Conn, 91, Hays, formerly of Stockton and Osborne, died Monday, Aug. 31, 2009, at Hays Good Samaritan Center.  She was born Nov. 28, 1917, near Webster to C. Roscoe and Velma (Perkins) Dougherty.  She married Henry Castka. He preceded her in death. She later married Dean Conn in Stockton. She worked for Swank Motors and the Osborne City office.
Survivors include her husband, Osborne; a brother, Harry Dougherty, Hays; a step-son, David Conn; and two grandchilden.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carolyn; a grandson; and a step-son, Daniel Conn.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Stockton Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home, Stockton.

Randy S. Towns, 58, rural Woodston, died Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at his home.  He was born March 14, 1951, in Hays to Harold and Mary L. (Lambert) Towns. He graduated from Stockton High School and Fort Hays State University with degrees in physical education, health, driver's education and general science.  He married Bonnie Yoxall on May 28, 1971, in Stockton. He was a teacher.
Survivors include a son, Brandon Towns, Olathe; two daughters, Mindy Jones and Tara Vance, both of Norton; his father, and step-mother, Sandy, La Crosse; a sister, Judy Long, WaKeeney; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home, Stockton; private burial will be at a later date.

Matilda Emaline Kennedy, 78, Stockton, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 2009, at Rooks County Health Center, Plainville.  She was born Sept. 13, 1930, in Stockton to Oran and Rena (Cadoret) Arbogast.  She married William "Bill" Davis in 1946. He preceded her in death. She later married Calvin Dee Kennedy on Dec. 31, 1949. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Bob Kennedy and wife, Winnelle, Downs, and Gene Kennedy and wife, Annie, Lee's Summit, Mo.; two daughters, Diane Maddy and husband, Don, Stockton, and Terry Bobbitt and husband, Alvy Jr., Kansas City, Kan.; four brothers, Harley Dale Arbogast and wife, Lorabell, Deerfield, Jack Gail Arbogast and wife, Kathy, Downs, Donald Leigh Arbogast and wife, Neen, Oakhill, Ohio, and Glenn D. Arbogast, and wife, Shirley, York, Neb.; a sister, Rozella "Rose" Carda and husband, Joe, Alma, Neb.; six grandchildren, Kurt Kennedy and wife, Joy, John Conger and wife, Tina, Jake Conger and wife, Crissy, Chad Kennedy, Lisa (Bobbitt) Konzem and husband, Ryan, and Jodi (Bobbitt) Johnson and husband, Adam; and 16 great- grandchildren.

Eloise G. Briggs Webster, 93, Stockton, died Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at Solomon Valley Manor, Stockton.  She was born Dec. 6, 1915, in Beloit to Harold and Tracey (Mock) Briggs. She was a 1933 graduateof Beloit High School.  She married Howard F. Webster on May 19, 1935, in Beloit. He preceded her in death Feb. 6, 2006. They owned Webster's Grocery in Stockton for 54 years.
Survivors include five daughters, Karleen Hrabe, Plainville, Gwendene Carter, Kingwood, Texas, Jolene Arford, Boulder, Colo., Kristine Travlos, Wilmington, N.C., and Lorna Webster, Westminster, Colo.; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; three step-great- grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Howard Jr. "Howdy" Webster, on Dec. 6, 1973.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Main Street Christian Church, Stockton; burial in Stockton Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, both at Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home, Stockton, and from 1 p.m. until time of service Saturday at the church.

Elton E. Byfield, 73, rural Stockton, died Thursday, July 9, 2009, at Solomon Valley Manor, Stockton.  He was born May 24, 1936, south of Stockton, to Freeman and Violet (Walker) Byfield.  He married Bernita Byerly on July 22, 1959, in Stockton. He was a truck driver. He was in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Kendall Byfield, Stockton and Martin Byfield, Schoenchen; two brothers, Harold Byfield, Denver and Gary Byfield, Needsville, Texas; three sisters, Devota Nunn, Topeka, Deberta Hutchison, Stockton, and Delila Custer, Ellsworth; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Private military gravside services will be in August in Stockton Cemetery. Cremation is planned.
There will be no visitation.

Edwin E. Gardner, 88, Plainville, died Monday, July 6, 2009, at Rooks County Health Center, Plainville.  
He was born June 11, 1921, in Plainville to Clyde F. and Allie L. (Posegate) Gardner. He graduated from Plainville High School and attended Fort Hays State University.  He married Helen Dittrick on Oct. 6, 1946, in Great Bend. He was a rural mail carrier for more than 30 years before retiring. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Charles C. Gardner, Penrose, Colo.; two daughters, Gayle Hayter, Wichita, and Judith Thompson, Stockton; a sister, Louise Phillips, Monterey, Calif.; six grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Plainville United Methodist Church; burial in Plainville Cemetery with military honors provided by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.
Visitation will be until 8 p.m. today at Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel, Plainville, and from 9 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the church.

Delores A. Bice, 73, Stockton, died Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at Rooks County Medical Center, Plainville.  She was born Jan. 18, 1936, in Leavenworth to Virgil V. and Beulah M. (Morgan) Bird. She graduated from Stockton High School.  She married Richard D. Bice on Dec. 12, 1954, in Stockton. He preceded her in death April 24, 1990. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Rick Bice, Stockton, and John Bice, Houston; a daughter, Wanita Marie Bice-Washington, Galveston, Texas; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m.Monday at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Stockton; private graveside services will be in Center Cemetery, near Codell. Cremation has taken place.

Wilhelmina H. "Minnie" Schoenthaler, 90, WaKeeney, died Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney.  She was born Oct. 28, 1918, in rural Rooks County near Zurich to William and Albertina (Jantz) Trarbach. She attended rural Zurich schools.  She married Adam Schoenthaler on Oct. 28, 1943, in Ellis. He preceded her in death Jan. 25, 2001. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Schoenthaler, Ogallah, and Randy Schoenthaler, Hays; a daughter, Barbara Daniels, Douglas, Wyo.; a brother, Walter Trarbach, Wichita; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, WaKeeney; burial in WaKeeney City Cemetery.

Gerri Miner, 91, Stockton, died Friday, May 22, 2009, at Solomon Valley Manor, Stockton.  She was born Aug. 5, 1917, north of Webster to Charles B. and Eula M. (Ross) Arrington.  She married Calvin W. Miner on Nov. 12, 1974, in Stockton. He preceded her in death Feb. 17, 1975. She was an aide and activity director for Parkview Care Center, Osborne, and Redbud Village, Plainville.
Survivors include several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Glenda Jean Brunkhurst in 1967; and a son, Charles Michael "Mike" Ellsworth, on Jan. 12, 2009.
Services were today in Mount Vernon Cemetery, northwest of Stockton.

Wilkerson and wife, Wendy, San Diego, and Dave Wilkerson, Plainville; three daughters, Mary Lang and husband, Duane, Hays, and Geri Stahl and Sharon Waggoner and husband, Pete, all of Plainville; three brothers, John Feuerborn, Kent, Wash., Walter Feuerborn, Shawnee, and Frank S. Feuerborn, Garnett; two sisters, Grace Feuerborn, Hays, and Delma Powelson, Memphis, Tenn.; 17 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Tom Wilkerson and Ken Wilkerson; a grandson, Shane Wilkerson; six brothers, Gale Feuerborn, Martin Feuerborn, Max Feuerborn, Clifford Feuerborn, Leonard Feuerborn, and Chester Feuerborn; and her parents.

Harold R. Houser, 94, Plainville, died Friday, May 1, 2009, at his home.  He was born Oct. 10, 1914, in Halstead to William and Elsie Mabel (Ingersol) Houser. He graduated from Halstead High.  He married Margaret L. Hain on Jan. 18, 1939, in Hutchinson. He owned Harold's Pastry Shop, Plainville, for years before retiring from the Schult mobile home factory in 1976. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Thomas Houser, Plainville; a daughter, Susan Goetz, Hiawatha, Iowa; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Lifetime Plainville resident, Genevieve "Jenny" Rachell, passed away at the age of 96, on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Redbud Village in Plainville.  Jenny was born August 9, 1912, on West Plainville homestead, the daughter of John Oscar and Lizzie (Stucky) Mayhew. She was a Plainville High School graduate. Genevieve Mayhew married Bob R. Rachell in February of 1940. He preceded her in death in June of 1992. Jenny worked as a clerk at Burk's Market in Plainville for 25 years. She also did a great deal of housework for others, including cleaning, ironing, and babysitting. Jenny was a member of the Plainville VFW Auxiliary, the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Quilters.  Jenny will be dearly missed by her nieces and nephews, Janice (Finnesy) Cole and Jane (Burkholder) Mayer of Wichita; Donna (Mayhew) Brown, Melissa Finnesy, D.J. Finnesy, and Steve Finnesy of Plainville; Doug Finnesy of Boise, Idaho; Linda (Mayhew) Thomas of Omaha, Nebraska; and numerous great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Clarence Mayhew, Raymond Mayhew, and Les Mayhew; two sisters Eva (Mayhew) Finnesy and Vera (Mayhew) Burkholder; and two nephews, Dave Mayhew and Mike Mayhew.
Services will be held Friday, April 24, 2009 at the United Methodist Church of Plainville at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Eric Rook officiating.

Mrs. Elizabeth Elaine "Betty" Mai, 79, Salina, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009. She was a retired teacher for USD 305, teaching at Hageman Elementary School, and also in Colby and Concordia. Mrs. Mai was born Oct. 6, 1929, in Hays, the daughter of the late Milton Tony and Coy (McCoy) Harris. She graduated from Stockton High School, Stockton, and Fort Hays.  Elizabeth E. Harris was married to Julius H. Mai, on June 23, 1989, in Honolulu, Hawaii, at the Harris United Methodist Church. Mrs. Mai was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Salina.
Survivors include her husband, Julius, of the home; three stepsons, John Mai, of San Jose, Calif., Gerald Mai, of Arvada, Colo., and Keith Mai, of Vienna, Va. She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Hageman.
At the family's request, there will be no visitation or services.

Hilda E. Thomas, 89, Choctaw, Okla., formerly of Stockton, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, at Midwest City Nursing Home, Midwest City, Okla.  She was born Oct. 20, 1919, to Fred and Iva (Barnt) Nichols in Alton.  She married Philip Thomas on June 3, 1940. He preceded her in death in 1994. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, John Thomas, Choctaw; a brother, Robert Nichols, Osborne; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Stockton, on Feb. 3; burial in St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery, Osborne.

Joe A. Hake, 86, Plainville, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009, at Rooks County Health Center, Plainville.  He was born Dec. 30, 1922, in Tipton to John J. and Martha (Adam) Hake.  He married Thelma Marie Dreiling on Aug. 26, 1946, in Plainville. She preceded him in death Feb. 28, 2007. He was in residential construction.
Survivors include four sons, Mike Hake, Colby, Bill Hake, North Newton, Dean Hake, Hutchinson, and Jim Hake, Cleveland, Tenn.; three daughters, Karen Reed, Stockton, Judy Wilson, Hutchinson, and Brenda Gilliland, Concordia; a brother, Raymond Hake, Conroe, Texas; three sisters, Rita Erickson and Geraldine Karns, both of Plainville, and Mary Lee Berland, Colorado; 22 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant son.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m.Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Plainville; burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Visitation will be until 8 p.m. today at Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel, Plainville.
A Ladies Guild rosary will be at 3 p.m. today at the chapel.
A vigil will be at 7 p.m.today, followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary, both at the chapel.

Longtime Plainville resident, Randy Louise Hutton, age 62, passed away Monday, January 26, 2009 at the Rooks County Health Center, Plainville.  Randy was born August 8, 1946 in Great Bend, Kansas the daughter of Glen Howard and Margie Jean (Janzen) Miller. Randy was a 1964 graduate of Plainville High School. On September 20, 1964, Randy Louise Miller married Max Arthur Hutton at the Christian Church in Plainville. Max passed away on September 3, 1993. Randy was proud to have spent 37 years working at the Midwest Community Bank (formerly the Plainville State Bank) in Plainville. She also enjoyed reading, yard work, and attending church and bible study. Randy especially cherished the time she spent with her grandkids and family.
Randy will be dearly missed by her family, including daughter Lanette and husband Joe McCune, grandchildren Danelle, Kelcee, and Izac, all of Plainville; son Justin Hutton and wife Jenny, grandchildren Paxton, Romyn, and Kelby, all of Topeka; brother Ron Miller and wife Delma of Dodge City; sisters Ruth and husband Floyd Webb of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Risa Jackson of Hutchinson, Kansas, and Ronda and husband Randy Miller of Hoisington. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Max; and an infant son, Max Bradley in 1971.
Services will be 10:00 a.m.Wednesday, January 28, 2009at the Christian Church of Plainville with Pastor Larry Lyles officiating. Burial will be at the Plainville City Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:00 a.m.to 8:00 p.m., with family present from 6:00 p.m.to 8:00 p.m.at the Mosher-Kemp Family Funeral Home, 320 SW 2nd, Plainville, KS67663.

Vivian Ulleen (Hagen
) Ouderkirk, 57, Palco, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, at Rooks County Health Center, Plainville.  She was born March 16, 1951, in Hays to Ernest and Freida (Sauer) Hagen. She was a 1969 graduate of Ellis High School.  She was a certified nurse's aide at Lutheran Home Manor, WaKeeney, for 22 years.  She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Ellis.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and had a special fondness for horses.
Survivors include two daughters, Cappy Werner and husband, Ronald, Plainville, and Wendy Knipp and husband, Mark, Damar; her mother, Freida Hagen, Palco; five grandchildren, Dalton and Shania Werner, Plainville, and Shelby, Cameron and Connor Knipp, Damar; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Hagen.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church Ellis; burial in Mount HopeCemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Keithley Funeral Chapel, Ellis, and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church.
A prayer service will be at 7 p.m.
Friday at the funeral home.

Marjorie G. Strutt, 91, Stockton, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009, at Rooks County Health Center, Plainville.  She was born Jan. 11, 1918, in Russell County to Ralph D. and Myrtle R. (Phillips) Wyckoff. She graduated from Waldo Rural High School and attended Fort Hays State University.  She married Van Vernon Strutt on July 20, 1941, south of Luray. He preceded her in death Oct. 13, 1996.
Survivors include two sons, Vernon Strutt, Woodston, and Don Wyckoff, Norman, Okla.; four daughters, Margaret Welker and Irene Nyp, both of Stockton, Jeanne Poore, Scott City, and Lorna Hays, Plainville; three sisters, Genevieve Lounsbury, Susanville, Calif., Shirley Bodmer, Omaha, Neb., and Norma Williams, Methuen, Mass.; 14 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Woodston United Methodist Church; burial in Pleasant Plain Cemetery, southeast of Woodston.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, both at Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home, Stockton, and from 9 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church.

Derby -- Fleming, Imogene Gick, was born July 31, 1920 at Plainville, Kansas; the daughter of William and Gladys Brown Gick. She died Saturday, January 10, 2009 in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 88 years. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Richard L. Fleming and her parents. She is survived by her sons and their wives, Gick and Debbie Fleming of Leon and Brent and Pam Fleming of Augusta,; grandchildren, Zachary (Kathleen) Fleming, Kristin (Tim) Briggs, Alison (Kyle) Robbins, Vanessa Fleming, Andrew (Misti) Fleming; great grandchildren, Macie, Rhett, Maeve and Adelaide; best friend Walter Johnson, Jr. of Wichita.
Imogene graduated from Fort Hays State University in 1943, with a B.S. in Education. She was active in college with band, intramurals, sorority, Kappa Phi, Quill Club, drama, dancing, piano and queen candidates. After college she taught school for six years and was a tour guide in Europe. She was past president of Soroptimist, Kappa Phi Alumni, Wichita Symphony Society, Wichita Musical Club, Hypatia Beta, Westernaires Square Dance Club, Sewing Club, Book Club, Helianthus, Garden Club, Wichita City Panhellenic, Mulvane Federated Women's Club, Wichita Civic Dance Theater, Twentieth Century Club, State Auxiliary of Kansas Osteopathic Medicine, South Central District for Kansas Federated Music Club, Fifth District Women's Club, P.E.O., Project Beauty and Beta Sigma Phi. Other activities included, Charter member of Assistance League of Wichita, D.A.R., Normandy Republican Women, Lands and People, Pinochle Club, Bridge Club, Wichita Art Museum, Center For the Arts, Wichita Historical Museum, Thursday Afternoon Musical Club, Lunch Bunch, A.A.U.W. University Club for Graduates, Cameo Club for Sr. America Queens, Woodlawn United Methodist Church and American Red Cross. She was honored as "Woman of the Year" and "Outstanding National Woman" of Theta Sigma Phi; Hypatia Beta "Sweetheart"; Alpha Gamma Delta "Diamond Arc Award" and "Valentine Queen", Girl of the Year", "Woman of the Year" of Beta Sigma Phi. Imogene was Ms. Kansas Senior America at the 1991 pageant in Atlantic City. She enjoyed founding and directing the "Funtastics" singing group since 1986.

Hebert Wayne Glick, 85, Plainville, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, at Redbud Village, Plainville.  He was born Dec. 16, 1923, south of Zurich to Peter A. and Ethel Mae (Johnson) Glick. He attended high school in Plainville.  He married Vera Jane Stoner on June 5, 1944, in Boise, Idaho. He was a oil field pumper. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, serving during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; three sons, Donald Glick Sr., Zurich, Fred Glick, Plainville, and Rodger Glick, Aurora, Colo.; a daughter, Shirley Rempe, Plainville; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church, Plainville; burial in Plainville City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, with family present from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Mosher-Kemp Family Funeral Home, Plainville.

Dougherty, 91, formerly of rural Codell and Plainville, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2009, at her daughter's home in Larned.  She was born Jan. 22, 1917, in Graham County to Frank and Blanche (Sparks) Mead.  She married Dale Dougherty on Sept. 3, 1934, in Hill City. He preceded her in death March 9, 1999. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, Dennis Dougherty, Great Bend; four daughters, Arlene Hockett, Codell, Ruby Poe, Oberlin, Ileta Harris, Larned, and Retha Delgadillo, Pawnee Rock; 30 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; and 26 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Larry Doughtery; a daughter, Wanda Clapp; a granddaughter; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Codell Baptist Church; burial in Plainville Cemetery.

Lovelady on Aug. 14, 1955, in Hill City. He preceded her in death Jan. 16, 1995. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Gregory Lovelady, Palco, and Michael Lovelady, Ness City; a brother, Dwayne Hardman, Hill City; a sister, Leinad David, Hill City; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Christian Church, Hill City; burial in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
