Beverly Austin
Hatton, Charles...Born May 18, 1849 in Hillsdale, Michigan. Moved to Wichita in 1872. He was Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Kansas, under the administrations of Presidents Garfield and Arthur, and during the first term of President Cleveland. City Attorney of Wichita for six years, also on the legal staff of the Santa Fe Railroad.
He was a Republican in politics, active but never aspired to office. He was a member of the B.P.O.E., Knights of Pythias and the Grand Army of the Republic.
While residing in Wichita, Charles and his wife Louisa had six children. Charles and Louisa with their two youngest daughters moved to Nevada in 1905.

Marie Novak came to America in 1903. Left home in 1905 from Wichita, KS. Wichita City Directory shows in 1906 Marie was working as a domestic at 1217 East Murdock. My mother in laws grandmother was supposed to have died in Sedgewick County in 1929. She was supposedly buried back here in our local cem., but they do not have record of her burial although there is a stone. I highly suspect that she is actually buried out there, not here. Parental Greatgrandmother: Eloise (Parker) Rummery (born July 27, 1917...she told me in Bergin (sic), OK but not such town is listed, even as a ghosttown...I wonder if it could have bee!n Burgevin, OK?

Also know of the parents of my Greatgrandmother, Eloise (Parker) Rummery, who were:

Her Mother: Lillice B. (Thomas) Parker, born in Marion, Kansas, Dec 25, 1889
Her Father: Frankie T. Parker...born in Carney, OK April 16, 1880

That’s all I have, except the report that the Rummerys have been in the Wichita/Sedwick County area since the beginning of the century.

I am searching for ROUTH descendents in Sedgwick Co. Francis "Marion" ROUTH (1849-1923) and Amanda Jane ROBBINS (1854-1886) had eight children: John W. ROUTH (1871-1953). Landen "Pete" ROUTH (1872-1937). Charles E. ROUTH (1873-1932). Ida ROUTH (1877-1944). Elizabeth L. ROUTH (1878-1939). James A. ROUTH (1880). Jacob ROUTH (1883-1954). James Proctor DRAKE (1886-1974), adopted last name changed from ROUTH to DRAKE. After Amanda’s death, Marion married (2nd) Frances May MILLER (1862-1955) and they had seven children: Bert E. ROUTH (1889-1974). Alma ROUTH (1890-?). Walter ROUTH (1891-?). Clyde ROUTH (1893-?). Howard ROUTH (1894-1946). Hobert ROUTH (1897-1918). Elsie ROUTH (1899-?). Any information on the descendents of these families would be greatly appreciated.

Letter of 1919 from Wichita brother of Lucy Florence Barnhart 1869-1961 asks the family to seriously consider moving to Wichita from Branson/Kirbyville Mo. Have need to contact and research Barnhart line. Lucy married three times Jack VanZandt, Solomon Linzey or Lindsay and Joel Johnson. This could be the start of a whole other country!
