She is a member of the College Hill Delphian and Saturday Afternoon Musical Clubs, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She is Chairman of Community Work at St. James Church. During the war she was active in all Red Cross work and for it received special recognition from Washington. Mr. LaGrant is a Rotarian, a Scout Commissioner, ex-President of the Scout Council, and Past-President of the Boy's Welfare Commission. He was on the Executive Board of the Republican Central Committee, and Treasurer of the Sedgwick County War Funds Association and Loyalty Clubs, in which he was assisted by Mrs. LaGrant. Mr. LaGrant is a Rotarian. Mr. Earl LaGrant is now at Whipple Barracks, Arizona. He was commander of the Thomas Hopkins Post of the American Legion. Miss Ella Lahey was in school at Mt. Carmel Academy. She is Secretary of the Twentieth Century Club. Her especial interest is music. Miss Sally Lahey is fourteen years of age. She is a member of the Country and Thursday Cooking Clubs, and of the Wichita Hospital Boards. LASSEN, Mr. and Mrs. William 345 Belmont Avenue, Before her marriage Mrs. Lassen was Miss Dorothy Skillings. She was at the Sea Pines School in Massachusetts, and was a Sorosis at Fairmount College. She is also a Zeta Beta Psi. Mr. Lassen is a member of the Country Club. Both Mr. and Mrs. Lassen are ardent horseback riding enthusiasts, and Mr. Lassen plays polo. LAWRENCE, Mr. and Mrs. Harry 1043 North Lawrence Avenue. Mrs. Lawrence ( Miss Bertha Stewart) was a Phi Beta Kappa at Northwestern. Mr. Lawrence attended Hanover University, where he was a Phi Gamma Delta. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence have two children, Margaret Ann and Laura Katharine. LAZARUS, Mr. and Mrs. Peter 3335 Oakland Avenue. Mrs. Lazarus lived in New York City before her marriage. Her name was Miss Hettie Schattman. She was at school at the Ben Dean Finishing School. Mrs. Lazarus is affiliated with the Twentieth Century Club. She is very fond of motoring, and she reads a good deal. Mr. Lazarus is a member of the Crestview Country Club. Jack Paul, aged ten, is a baseball enthusiast and takes much interest in athletics. LEHMAN, Mr. and Mrs. G. E. 1157 North Lawrence Avenue. Mrs. Lehman (Miss Eliza Blythe) was born in Canada. With Mr. Lehman, she came from Humboldt, Kansas, thirty years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Lehman have always done a great amount of philanthropic work, and are numbered among the builders of Wichita. Their especial interest has been young people. Mrs. Lehman is a charter member of the Twentieth Club. Mr. and Mrs. Lehman are members of the First Presbyterian Church. LEU, Mr. and Mrs. Fred 1058 North Topeka Avenue. Mrs. Leu (Miss Laura Helm) attended the State Normal School of Wisconsin. Mr. Leu was born in Switzerland and lived there until his twelfth year. He is a Rotarian, and a member of the Country and Wichita Clubs. Miss Gladys studied dancing at Denishawn, and has been on the Keith Vaudeville Circuit, but is on the Pantages Circuit during the summer. Winfield Leu is a Sigma Chi at K. U. She is a member of the College Hill Delphian Society, the Board of Directors of the Y. W. C. A., and the Saturday Afternoon Musical Club. She is very much interested in all Y. W. C. A. work. Mrs. Magill (Miss Frances McInnes) was educated at Fairmount College and in Lausanne, Switzerland. Mr. Magill was a Sigma Chi at K. U. MARLOW, Mr. and Mrs. C. R. 257 North Erie Street. Mrs. Marlow (Miss Ethel Taylor), is the daughter of one of Wichita's first physicians. She is Secretary of the College Hill Parent- Teachers' Association, and is Chairman of the Home Economics Department of Hypatia. Mr. Marlow attended Southwestern College, and later was graduated from K. U. He is a Rotarian and a member of the Board of Commerce. Both Mr. and Mrs. Marlow sing in the choir of the College Hill Methodist Church. They are prominent in the Sunday School of that church. Their children, Virginia, Richard and Clarence, Jr., are studying music. Virginia is quite domestic, and loves needlework. MARSHALL, Mr. and Mrs. Deering Belmont Avenue. Mrs. Marshall was Miss Vera Miller before her marriage. Mr. Marshall is a member of the Country and Wichita Clubs. He is interested in all outdoor sports, especially polo. Mrs. McEwen was until her marriage Miss Clara Coe. She attended Ingham University. Mr. Harold McEwen, son of Mrs. McEwen, was graduated from Friends University, where he was prominent in the University athletics. He is a member of Kiwanis. Mrs. McGregor's name before her marriage was Miss Lenora Gove, and her home was in Orange County, Strafford, Vermont. She attended Miss Owen's school at Lebanon, New Hampshire, and Carleton College at Northfield, Minnesota. Her especial interests have been the study of music and literature. Mrs. McGregor is a member of the Massachusetts Mayflower Society, of the Green Mountain Chapter D. A. R., the United States Daughters of 1812; the College Hill Delphian, and has received a certificate for excellent service in Red Cross work. She is identified with the St. James Episcopal Church. Before her marriage Mrs. McIlhenny was Miss Lynn Harner of Cincinnati. Miss Dorothy McIlhenny, her daughter, was a student at Kansas University last year and is a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. MCKAY, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Donald 932 Spaulding Avenue. Miss Kate Sheppard was Mrs. McKay's name before her marriage and her home at Ft. Scott, Kansas. She attended the University of Michigan, where she studied law, and was later admitted to the bar of Kansas and Michigan. She is a member of Pi Beta Phi, and the Wichita A. C. A. Mr. McKay was graduated from the University of Kansas, and his fraternity is Beta Theta Pi. MCKNIGHT, Mr. C. H. 3344 Oakland Avenue. Mr. McKnight is a member of the Elks Club. He has three daughters, Misses Frances, Madeline, and Carolyn. Miss Frances attended Mt. Carmel Academy and the Wilson Normal at Washington, D. C., where her time was devoted especially to the study of music and French. Miss Madeline attended Mt. Carmel Academy and Bethany College in Topeka, with vocal study as her especial work. Miss Carolyn's arts are whistling and dancing. MCLEAN, Mr. and Mrs. B. F. 1031 North Topeka Avenue. Until her marriage Mrs. McLean was Miss Julia Barwise. She was a member of the third class to graduate from the Wichita high school. Mr. McLean is a 32nd degree Mason. He is one of Wichita's City Commission. Miss Helen McLean, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. McLean, attended the University of Kansas and is a member of the Chi Omega sorority. Mr. John McLean, son of Mr. and Mrs. McLean, attended Culver Military Academy, and during the world war, entered service with the Culver Batallion. He received a lieutenant's commission. Mr. McLean has two little daughters, Helen Johann, and Angeline. MCLEAN, Mr. and Mrs. Drew 1104 Riverside. Before her marriage Mrs. McLean was Miss Anna Mabry of Hutchinson. Mr. McLean attended Harvard University, and served with the armies overseas, as a lieutenant. He is a member of the Wichita and Kiwanis Clubs. Mrs. McNamara was before her marriage, Miss Mary Louise Slattery, of Kilrush, County Clare, Ireland. She attended Loretta Convent at Kilkenny. Mrs. McNamara has four daughters, Mrs. David McGonigle of Kansas City, Mrs. F. E. Lockhart, Misses Marguerite and Vivian McNamara. Miss Vivian attended the Convent of the Sisters of St. Augustine in Paris for two years, following which she attended a convent in London. Miss Marguerite spent four years at Mt. Carmel Academy. She was a student at Belmont College, where she devoted a large part of her time to piano study. Mr. McQuown attended Sterling College. He is a member of the Rotary, the Wichita and Country Clubs. Both he and Mrs. McQuown are very fond of out of door life and with their children, John Harbey and Mary Kathleen, enjoy many automobile and camping trips. MCVEY, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh 3425 Oakland Avenue. Miss Carlyne Gertrude English was Mrs. McVey's name before her marriage. She attended college in Sedalia, Missouri. She is a member of the Twentieth Century Club, and is interested in social welfare work. Mr. McVey attended Kansas University. His especial interest is work among boys, and is National Chairman of the Boys' Work Committee. Mr. McVey is a Rotarian, a Wichita Club member and a Director of the Wheat Show. MECHEM, Mr. and Mrs. Kirke 304 North Emporia Avenue. Until her marriage Mrs. Mechem was Miss Katherine Lewis. Lewis Academy and Fairmount College were the schools she attended and at the latter she became a member of Sorosis Society. She is a member of the Saturday Afternoon and Wichita Musical Clubs, the P. E. O. Sisterhood and the Pioneer Society. Music has been her art, and she has studied in Munich, and in Chicago. She gave a concert on the Young Artist Series at the Fine Arts building in Chicago. Mr. Mechem attended Washburn College. He was with the American army overseas, is a member of the American Legion, Lions, Kansas Authors and Press Clubs. He is interested in athletics. Rose Mary is the name of the very young daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mechem. METZ, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. 1112 North Topeka Avenue. Mrs. Metz was before her marriage Miss Mae Razey of Clinton, Illinois. She attended a school for girls in Bloomington. Mr. Metz is a member of the Wichita Club. MIDDLEKAUFF, Mrs. E. H. 1425 Park Place. Until her marriage Mrs. Middlekauff was Miss Nellie Port of Hamilton, Ohio. She is a member of the Twentieth Century Club and of the Wesley Hospital Board. She is a member of the Thursday Afternoon Cooking Club. The Wichita Hospital Board, Baby Camp Board, the Public Health Nursing Association, and the various hospital drives, have always received liberal support and assistance from Mrs. Millison. Mr. Millison is a member of the Country and Wichita Clubs. Clark Millison, their young son, has been in school in Los Angeles. He has won numbers of medals for his swimming and other athletic activities. Last year he was enrolled at Kemper Military Academy. This fall he will enter school at Lawrenceville. MILLISON, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Wellington Place. Before her marriage Mrs. Millison was Miss Carolyn Clapp, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Clapp. She attended school at Kent Place, Summit, New Jersey. Beatrice Honore Clevenger was Mrs. Mills' name before her marriage. Before coming to Wichita she had devoted a large part of her time to the study of Expression, and had done much along dramatic lines. Before her marriage Mrs. Pottenger was Miss Agnes Davidson. She attended Lewis Academy. Mr. Pottenger is a member of Kiwanis and the Board of Commerce. POTTS, Mr. and Mrs. Howard 1015 North Lawrence Avenue. Until her marriage Mrs. Potts was Miss Gwendolyn Edwards of St. Joseph, Missouri. She is a member of the Baby Camp Board and of the Book Club. Mr. Potts is a member of the Country, Wichita, Press and Lions Clubs. Mr. and Mrs. Potts have a little daughter, Gwendolyn Edwards. POWELL, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert 253 North Roosevelt Avenue. Mrs. Powell was before her marriage Miss Gabrielle Gouldner and her home was in Metz, France. She attended Fairmount College where she was a member of Alpha Tau Sigma, and is a member of the Wichita A. C. A. Tennis and golf are among her favorite sports. Mr. Powell is a member of the American Legion, Lions and Country Clubs, and the Board of Commerce. POWELL, Mr. and Mrs. John L. 253 North Roosevelt Avenue. Miss Clara Berry was Mrs. Powell's name before her marriage and her home was in Illinois. She attended Lombard College at Galesburg, Illinois, and was a member of Pi Beta Phi. She is a charter member of the Twentieth Century Club, a charter member of the Saturday Afternoon Musical Club, a member of the Board of the Y. W. C. A., and is interested in the work of the League of Women Voters. Mr. Powell is a Rotarian, and a member of the Country and Wichita Clubs. POWELL, Mr. and Mrs. Lon H. 1346 North Emporia Avenue. Before her marriage Mrs. Powell was Miss Cora Beal. Mr. Powell is a member of the Wichita Club. Mr. and Mrs. Powell have three children, Billy, Robert and Geraldine. PRATT, Mrs. George 3817 East English Street. Until her marriage Mrs. Pratt was Miss Eunice Scott of Burlington, Iowa. She attended "Our Lady of Lourdes" convent at Burlington. Mrs. Pratt was a charter member of the Twentieth Century Club and is a member of the Country Club. The late George Pratt assisted in organizing and was the first president of the Wichita Club. Mrs. Pratt is an artist, and is fond of anything in the artistic lines. Miss Catherine Pratt, daughter of Mrs. Pratt, attended St. Mary's Episcopal School at Knoxville, Illinois. Frederick Pratt, son of Mrs. Pratt, has just completed his high school course. PRESTRIDGE, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph 415 East Murdock. Before her marriage Mrs. Prestridge was Miss Lola Dulaney. She attended Lewis Academy and Ward-Belmont. She is a member of the Book Club, and the Wichita D. A. R. Mr. Prestridge is a member of the Country, Lions and Wichita Clubs. PRIEST, The Reverend and Mrs. Walter Scott 218 East Third Street. Dr. Priest attended Bethany College in West Virginia. He is a 32nd degree Mason, and a member of the Rotary and Wichita Clubs. Mr. Walter Scott Priest, Jr., was a Sigma Nu and a Nu Sigma Nu at K. U. Mrs. Byron Gordon Hayes (Miss Frances Priest) lives in Kansas City. She attended Nebraska University where her sorority was Alpha Delta Pi. PRIEST, Mr. Frank 618 North Topeka Avenue. Mr. Priest is a member of Phi Lambda Epsilon, is a Kiwanis, Wichita and Country Club member, a Shriner and member of the Consistory. During his service in the world war, he was commissioned Captain. He is a member of the American Legion, and of La Societe des 40 et 8. He is fond of hunting, is interested in boys and is Scout Master of Troop 22. PURDUM, Mr. and Mrs. Phil 205 East Dewey Street. Mrs. Purdum was before her marriage Miss Mary Shoop. She attended Rockford College in Illinois, and Ward-Belmont in Nashville, Tennessee. Mr. Purdum is a member of the Country Club and Kiwanis. His fraternity is Alpha Omega. PURVES, Dr. and Mrs. George K. 447 North Clifton Avenue. Mrs. Purves was Miss Lucy Lewis until her marriage. She was a student at National Park Seminary, is a member of the Wichita Chapter D. A. R. and of the League of Women Voters. Dr. Purves attended the University of Wisconsin and Northwestern University. He has memberships in the Co-operative and Wichita Clubs. Dr. and Mrs. Purves have three children, Billy, Kern and Peggy. PYLE, Mr. and Mrs. E. W. 901 Faulkner Avenue. Mrs. Pyle's name before her marriage was Miss Florence Birkett. Seattle, Washington, was her home. Mr. Pyle attended the University of Kansas and is a Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Mr. and Mrs. Pyle have two small daughters, Mary Ruth and Margaret.
