My Dear Mother,



Katie has been very anxious to go home for a long time.  But one thing and another have

prevented her from going.  She had made up her mind to leave next Monday but this morning the

newspapers report that there have been trememdous rain storms in the East so that it is not safe to

make the journey until the roads get settled.  I hope you will be reconciled to her stay.  She says

she is ashamed to write to you again.  Will you please wait until she comes which will be very

soon.
