[Envelope addressed to Mrs. H.P. Foster, Walpole, N.H., postmarked 1 Sep, Topeka, Kan] Topeka, Aug. 31, 1878 My Dear Mother: I received today a letter from Katie. She says you are rather feeble. I hope this will find you better. I do wish so much that I could be with you. I love you so much that I think about all the time about you. I hope you will not worry about me in the least. The only thing I have to complain of is the hot summer. I will try and come and see you by and by. I suppose Katie is doing every thing in her power for you and you have all you need. Dear mother, it is very sad for me to think that you are so feeble, you who are my own dear mother and who has done so much for me. I am sorry I can do no more for you. I hope you will get your pension soon. The next time I hear from you I hope you will be better. Your affectionate Boy Charlie.
