Topeka, Dec. 5 1878. My Dear Mother: I hope you are well today. I want you to have every thing you need and can desire. I shall be in a condition shortly to send you and Katie some money. We are having some winter here now. I have not heard how the weather is in New Hampshire this winter. U.S. Court is in session now and we have quite a large docket. I suppose you have no trouble in getting your pension and have got your December payment by the time this gets to you. I wish I could be with you this winter and I think we could have a good time. Your affectionate Boy Charlie.
