Topeka May 11 1878 My Dear Mother: I was very glad to hear from you and more than pleased to learn you are getting on so well. I wish I could be with you. I am very busy now -- more busy than I have been for some time. If business should keep up for a year as it has for the last few weeks I do'nt know as I should ever want to practice any more. For a very small part of my business for the last month I have received $105 in cahs and about $140 in other stuff. I received a receipt yesterday for your pension claim. They say they will let me know what evidence they want in the case of [...] Perhaps it would be well to have J[...] Bellows take the affidavits of Clement Didy[?] and wife. It may be necessary if I do nt hear from Burnham. [....] that I do not hear from him in some way, I enclose $5.00 for Katie. I would send her some more but I have some bills to pay. What does she want in the way of dress this summer? I wish she would let me know right off and perhaps I can furnish her with the means.
