Simerwell Cemetery started as the Simerwell Family Cemetery and is the final resting place of Elizabeth F (Simerwell) Carter, the first white female child born in Kansas. She was the daughter of Robert & Fanny (Goodrich) Simerwell, early Baptist Missionaries to the Indians. In recent years it has been enlarged and is opened to others for burial. It is very well maintained. I did not notice any unmarked graves, but there were one or two stones that were completely unreadable. This is a complete transcription of existing and legible tombstones within the cemetery. Transcription completed 13 Jun 05.
