Myrtle Jane Carter, 101, Hoxie, died Saturday, April 7, 2007, at Sheridan County Hospital, Hoxie. She was born Sept. 23, 1905, in rural Sheridan County, north of Hoxie, to Elijah and Mary Gilbert Johnson. She married Oral Carter on April 30, 1933, in Hoxie. He preceded her in death Nov. 7, 1987.
She taught school for several years.
Survivors include two sons, James Carter, Power, Mont., and Robert Carter, Littleton, Colo.; a daughter, Orlene Duncanson, Dallas; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Burial in Hoxie Cemetery.
