Esther Carolyn Lawson, 82, of Albia, Iowa and former resident of Bloomfiled, Iowa died March 4, 2009 at her home.  She was born February 19, 1927 in Hoxie, Kansas to Edward and Anna Cremer Wegman.  She graduated from Hoxie High School.  She married Harley L. Lawson March 2, 1946 in Ottumwa, Iowa.  He preceded her in death November 29, 2008.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Albia, the Altar and Rosary Society and former member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Bloomfield.  She was a homemaker and had lived in Albia since 2003.

 

She is survived by 2 sons, Gary (Cindy) Lawson of Houston, Texas, Harold (Joyce) Lawson of Bloomfield, Iowa, Dori (Steve) Chapdelaine of Lowell, Michigan; 7 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandsons.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brothers, Clarence ’82, Raymond ’71, and Victor Wegman ’99, a sister, Estella Gall ’98; and a son-in-law, Bob Russell.

 

A memorial in lieu of flowers has been established to the Albia Senior Center.  The body has been donated to the University of Iowa Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology in Iowa City, Iowa.

 

Vivian Wegman of Hoxie, KS attended the services of her sister in Albia, IA.
