Military Records

Fort Scott and Bourbon County were very active in the military, whether in 1842 or in all of the campaigns the U.S. became involved in up to current time. OFGS has an enormous volume of books, pamphlets, microfilm, notebooks (one even is the hospital records for the Fort Hospital during the Civil War) and huge books about the reconstruction of the National Fort Scott site. Fort Scott has a National Cemetery that was one of 12 original sites started during the Civil War. The Fort Scott National Cemetery is impressive and has burials from the very early years to current. The site has basic information of location. The site will refer you to OFGS as we have history of the veterans and families buried at this location.
