Ethel Ruth Brown was born October 8, 1915 at Whitewater in Harvey County, KS, the oldest of two daughters born to Fred and Zetta (Gilbert) Corfman. She passed away Saturday, May 2, 2009 in the Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital at WaKeeney at the age of 93 years 6 months and 24 days.

She attended country schools near Whitewater until the 6th grade when they moved to a farm near Lebanon in Smith County. She finished school in a one-room schoolhouse and graduated from Lebanon High School with the class of 1935. Ethel moved to Denver in the fall of 1935 and worked as a maid in a private home. On December 24, 1935, Ethel married Walter H. Brown in Denver. Walter passed away April 16, 1981.

Survivors include a son, Walter Dale Brown and wife, Janet; six daughters, Ila May Green and husband, Joe; Nola June Schultz and husband, Richard; Julia Ann Miller; Donna Sue Mong and husband, Charles; Mary Jane Ratliff ; Wanda Kay Ellenberger and husband, Ken; eighteen grandchildren, William Green and wife, Candy, Joe Dale Green and friend, Gail, Norman Green and friend, Korena, Lyndon Green, Lyle Schultz and Robin, Annette Lantz and husband, Jerry, Larry Schultz and friend, Jessica, Eldon Miller and wife, Ande, Kimberley Gestl and husband, John, Allen Mong and wife, Tammi, Irene Walker and husband, Waylon, Tina Larison and husband, Jim, Kelly Ratliff and wife, Thea, Kent Ratliff and wife, Yvonne, Jason Brown and wife, Nan, Jeffery Brown and wife, Megan, Melissa Rothegeb, Stephanie Ellenberger and fiancé, Tyler Spear; forty-three great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Walter; a sister, Marguerite Walton; three grandchildren, Debra & Bruce Green, Tim Mong, a great-great-granddaughter, Danae Green; two sons-in-law, Gene Miller, William Elmore; and two granddaughters-in-law, Kristi and Rosene Green.

Interment is in the WaKeeney City Cemetery
