Walter Conness was born January 23, 1920 in rural Graham County, KS to Clarence and Lora (Bean) Conness. He passed away at his home in WaKeeney on Thursday, December 25, 2008 at the age of 88.

As a child, he attended schools in Steator, IL. He served in the United States Army during World War II and' received Invasion Ribbons for North Africa, France and Italy.

Walter farmer and was a lifetime resident, of Trego and Graham Counties. When he retired, he moved to WaKeeney and enjoyed daily chats with the coffee shop crew.

Survivors include one niece, Michele Tillet and husband, Rory; and three nephews, Mark Conness and wife, Linda, Robert R. Conness, Jr. and wife, Elaine, and David Conness and wife, Lucy.

Preceding him were his parents, & three brothers, Robert, John, & an infant brother, Joseph Conness.

Interment is in WaKeeney Cemetery
