Corene Beth Day, 74

Corene Beth Day was born July 11, 1935, south of Edmond, KS on the family farm in Norton County, to the late Bert and Inza (Huffman) Griffey. She passed away Monday, May 24, 2010, in the Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital at WaKeeney, KS at the age of 74.

She graduated from Edmond High School. She loved and played basketball during those high school years.

On May 25, 1954, Corene married Donald Jesse Day. He passed away November 30, 1998.

Corene lived in WaKeeney since 1972 moving from Phillipsburg. She worked as a dietary aide for ten years and was a housekeeper for fifteen years. She was a member of Church of God in WaKeeney.

Corene loved music, dancing and having coffee with her many friends. She cherished the times spent with her children and grandchildren and was proud of each and everyone.

Survivors include five sons, Butch Day and wife, Lana, Doug Day, Rob Day and Pat Gaut, Jesse Day and wife, Shelley, Dennis Day and wife, Susan; two daughters, Diana Parke and husband, Richard, Pamela Weilert and husband, Michael; nineteen grandchildren, Shane Day, Michael Day, Matthew Day, Marissa Day, Ryan Day, Luke Parke, Brittney Parke, Dustin Day, Derick Day, Zachary Day, Pierce Day, Chase Day, Jesse Weilert, Tracy Weilert, Kimberly Day, Dalton Day, Emma Day, Owen Day, Leah Day; two great-grandchildren, Anthony and Madison Day; two brothers, Carol Griffey and wife, Korla, of Norton, and Raymond Griffey of Hutchinson; and a daughter-in-law, Lora Day.

Corene was preceded in death by a son, Shannon Day; a brother, Burton Griffey; and a sister, Orpha Lane.

Services for Corene were held Friday, May 28, 2010 in Church of God at WaKeeney with Pastor Troy Miller officiating. Interment is in the WaKeeney City Cemetery.
