OBITUARY of Mamie G. Finkbeidner
1908 — 2004


Mamie G. Finkbeidner March 11, 2004
WaKEENEY — Mamie G. Finkbeiner, 96, died Tuesday, March 9, 2004, at Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital.

She was born Feb. 24, 1908, in Gove County to Julius G. and Cecil (Hughes) Sitz. She graduated from Hays High School in 1926 and received a bachelor's degree from Fort Hays State University in 1973.

She married Theodore Finkbeiner on Nov. 5, 1932, in Benkleman, Neb. He died in June 1974. She taught for 40 years and retired in 1978 from Grinnell schools.

Survivors include two sons, Leon D. Finkbeiner, Buffalo, Iowa, and Carol Finkbeiner, Alamogordo, N.M.; two sisters, Emma Reeder and Etta Meyer, both of WaKeeney; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church; burial in WaKeeney City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney. Memorials are suggested to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital in care of the mortuary, 336 N. 12th, WaKeeney, KS 67672. Submitted by Gayle M. Garrett
