Hazel P. Haas, 88, Ellis, died Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at Hays Medical Center. She was born on Nov. 20, 1920, in rural Trego County to Charles L. and Delia (Wynn) Turner. She attended Salt City Business College, Hutchinson. She married Celestine Haas on April 24, 1944, in Antonino. He preceded her in death July 17, 1977. She was a homemaker/farmer and, prior to her marriage, was employed as an executive assistant at Boeing Co., Wichita.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Senior Companions, Hadley Auxiliary and Ellis Nutrition Center, serving as secretary.

Survivors include three sons, Jim Haas and wife, Shyrell, Larry Haas and wife, Debbie, and Gary Haas and wife, Millie; two daughters, Marilyn Bieker and husband, Bob, and Carol Torpey and husband, Bill; a brother, Leo Turner; a sister, Nina Weisberger; and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Taryn Haas; two brothers, George Turner and Wayne Turner; and a sister, Dorothy Seirer.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Ellis; burial in St. Mary Cemetery.
