Evelyn May Hess passed away on August 28, 2007 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born to Pat and Goldie Gardner on June 3, 1933 in Wakeeney, Kansas. Effie married Gene Hess, Jr. in 1953. They had three children together.
Surviving Effie are husband, Gene; three sons, Gary (Fern) Hess, Donald (Linnea) Hess, and James (Brenda) Hess; eight grandchildren, Hunter and Meredith (Gary), Benjamin, Dustin, and Garrett (Donald), and Paige, Hope and Ryan (James); one sister, Marjorie (Max) Meuli; and two brothers, Melvin (Jennifer) Gardner, and Donald (Julie) Gardner. She was preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter Erin (James).
Effie was a friend to all, athlete, seamstress, school teacher, big league fan of youth sports, kindhearted, Christian, volunteer, camp cook, homemaker, and team Mom to many. She will be dearly missed.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 31, 2007, at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. Inurnment will be private.
