Melvin W. Legleiter, 66, WaKeeney, died Thursday, April 17, 2008, in rural Trego County. He was born Oct. 28, 1941, in Liebenthal to Anton and Genevieve (Schaffer) Legleiter. He was a 1959 graduate of Hays High School and attended Fort Hays State University. He married Sue Legleiter on June 19, 1965, in Hays. He was owner/operator of Northwest Kansas Transportation LLC. He was in the National Guard.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a daughter, Christine Gabel, seven brothers, Gerald Legleiter, Miles Legleiter, Anthony Legleiter, Harold Legleiter, Walter Legleiter, LeeRoy Legleiter, Dennis Legleiter, four sisters, Dorothy McCollum, Virginia Kinderknecht, Germaine Legleiter and Patricia Rohr, and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Christ the King Catholic Church, WaKeeney; burial in Christ the King Catholic Cemetery, WaKeeney.
