OBITUARY: Alfred George-Mai
YOUNG B0Y KILLED BY LIGHTNING BOLT
Alfred Mai, Age 13 Years, Is Killed, When, Lightening
Bolt Strikes The Barn.
Alfred George-Mai, the thirteen-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Geo.
E. Mai of Trego County, was instantly killed when struck by a
bolt of lightning, Friday, June 27, at 10:04 p. m.

Alfred and his smaller brother, Richard, were sleeping in the barn loft, when the lightning struck, shattering the side of the barn and setting it on fire. Richard was also struck by the bolt and ran to the house to summon his parents. Mr. Mai brought the boy to the WaKeeney hospital as soon as possible but his death was instantaneous.

Alfred George Mai was born October: 27, 1927, at the home of his parents in Trego.- County, and he died at his home on Friday evening, is June 27, 1941, being at the time, 13 years, and eight months old,

Alfred was a loving child with 'a ready smile for everyone, and will be greatly missed by all those who loved and knew him best. He leaves to mourn his loss, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George E. Mai, his brothers, Edward and Richard, and his sisters, Ruth Elaine; Florence, and Emma Jean besides, a host of other relatives and friends. Out-of-town relatives who. attended the funeral -are: Peter Schened, Windsor, Colo., Henry Mai of WaKeeney,, Adam Mai of Garden City, Pete Mai of Garden City, e Bernhardt Mai of Lenora, Bill Mai, of Garden City, uncles of the deceased, Peter Mai of WaKeeney, and 1 Alexander Miller of, Denver, ,Colo., great .uncles, and great aunt, Mrs. Fred Deines, of Russell and the following aunts, Mrs. Elizabeth Deines of Garden City, Mrs. Lena Stoppel of Garden City, Mrs. Marie Hardman of WaKeeney, Mrs. Katie Bender of WaKeeney, Mrs. Alma Payton of Pawhuska, Okla. and Mrs. Emma Buchholz of WaKeeney.
