G.W. "Mac" McNerney, 94, WaKeeney, died Monday, March 23, 2009, at Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney. He was born Aug. 23, 1914, near Luray in Russell County to James and Ethel (Langley) McNerney. He was a 1934 graduate of Luray High School. He married Georgia (Applegate) McNerney on Jan. 26, 1935, in Russell. He was owner and operator of Verbeck Lumber Co.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Neil McNerney, a daughter, Roberta "Bobbi" Kerth, five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Sue Redman; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church, WaKeeney; burial in WaKeeney City Cemetery.
