OBITUARY of Marjorie E. Wolff
Marjorie Elizabeth (Schroeder) Wolff was born in Itasca, Illinois on November 11, 1910 and departed this life on April 2, 1992 at Methodist Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois. She was the daughter of Dr. & Mrs. George F, Schoeder. She was baptized January 7, 1911 in the Lutheran faith and confirmede her baptismal vows April 13, 1924. She was united in marriage to Albert C. Wolff on June 5, 1937 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Itasca, Illinois. Marjorie was baptized, confirmed and married by the same pastor, R.v. Frederick Zersen, Marjorie acquired her elementary education at the parochial school in Itasca. She attended Lutheran lnstitute, Chicago, Illinois, and graduated in 1929. She then attended Valparaiso University for two years. During that time she was a member of the Valparaiso Aappella Choir and toured in several cities.
Albert and Marjori were blesse with four children. One son; George Otto, was born May 10, 1938 and preceded her death September 9, 1942. Surviving are three daughters, Alice Marie (Mrs. Lloyd Bell), Mardell Faye (Mrs. Clifford Carlson) and Cora Jean (Mrs. John McBnde).
Others left to mourn her passing are nine grandchildren, five great- grandchildren, two nieces, one nephew and a host of friends. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Arthur A. Schroeder. Following their marriag Albert and Marjorie lived on a farm five miles southwest of WaKeeney for five years. They then moved to their present home where they lived for the remaining years of her life. Marjorie was a faithful wife and mother. She helped on the farm doing chores, running errands and helping her husband in many ways until her health failed and she could no longer do the physical labor. She spent more than twenty years confined to a wheel chair.
Marjorie enjoyed doing crafts and fancy work and made many beautiful things in her lifetime, many of which she donated to friends and to the church. Among the crafts she enjoyed, one of her favorites, was decorating stationery with pheasant feathers which she shared by people through out tbe United States. Marjorie studied Braile transcribing under the Lutheran Church. After completing the course she was certified and accepted as a volunteer Braille transcriber. She transcribed Sunday School lessons into Braille for the blind for fifteen years until her strength failed and she was no longr able to do it. This work was always a great source of pleasure to her and she spent many hours doing this. Albert and Marjorie joined the First United Methodist Church of WaKeeney, Kansas on June 13, i978. Marjorie was also a member of the 1910er's Pen Pal Friendship Club which has members allover the United States.
Funeral services were held Monday, Apri16, 1992 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in WaKeeney with the Rev. Vernon Snider officiating. Schmitt -Hendricks Funeral Home was in charge of the services. Interment was at the WaKeeney City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church. The memorial may be left in care of the funeral home.
