My Cousin Phanuel Davis is present in Hawkeye Township in the 1880 Federal Census for Osborne County, Kansas. He is present with his wife Nancy, and no children. Verbal tradition has him dying in that area a year later in 1881. It is not known when his wife Nancy died. In the 1860 Census in Iowa he has two daughters: Sarah J. born in 1850 and Louisa born in 1856. I am trying to determine if he had any other surviving children. Corvetta and Lafayette are mentioned in some family sources, but without any proof. Do obituaries exist in local newspapers in this time frame? Does anyone have local knowledge of any descendants of this line who could answer whether Sara and Louisa are the only children of this couple? Thank you in advance. Mike Clark.
