We have a gg-uncle named James Hurst who was born c1835 at Whitehaven, Cumberland,England. His parents were Henry Hurst and Sarah Swift. We have found him in the 1881 census at Soldier, Shawnee with his wife Sara aged 31 and two sons, Fredrick 5 and Laurence 1. James was then 45, so 14 years older than his wife. We don't know her maiden name.
If there are any descendants out there would they please get in touch. We have a lot of info. on Hurst family in England.
James's brother, Irvin Hurst was a shipwright who emigrated to New Zealand 1860s and is our g-grandfather.
