I am looking for my great, great grandfather,Elisha Hughes,
who moved from IL prior to the 1860 U.S. Census.
Both Elisha and his wife, Eliza (Godfrey), were
married in Cape May, Middle, N.J. about 1838.
They had several children including Townsend
who died at seven and is buried in IL.
The children from oldest to youngest are Sam'l, Hannah,
Socratush,(Townsend), Freeman and Eliza. We have tracked
my great grandfather, Freeman, back to IL married and
moved back to Hamlin, Brown County, KS. Our family Bible
has a note that Freeman was buried in Hamlin, KS.
We have some evidence that Elisha also returned to IL
re-married and was still alive at the time of the
1880 U.S. Census. Any additional information about this
family would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
