I grew up in Burlington, Kansas, my grandfather John W. Harris, was born at Hillsdale in 1869. His mother died giving birth. I have a letter from a lady, who states her mother assisted John's mother when she arrived at her house in the wagon, although she died in the wagon having the baby. It was too late. John's father, who according to this letter, was also named John Harris. He had married Elizabeth Speaks in 1868 in Bates County MO. Does anyone have any information regarding this John Harris, or the Speaks family? I would appreciate any help in this matter. Thanks, Margie (I live in MS now)
