I am looking for any information on a Civil War Soldier "Alfred J. Luther" who died in 1863 at Lake Providence, LA and then was found to be a female. Specificaly we are trying to find her real name, so that we can have it recorded on her headsonte here in the Vicksburg National Military Park. She was a sgt. in Co. A, 1st Kansas Inf.
