Looking for info about Ping family. Settled in Girard in 1870. Captain Thomas Ping was on city council and briefly served as mayor in 1870s. Son P.I.B. Ping resided in Girard also and was elected to state senate as Republican (1877-81).

There were 2 daughters: Kate (nee Mary Catherine Helen August Ping) and Jane (nee Frances Virginia Sahara Elvira Ping). Neither married but I understand one of them was active with the Girard library.

There was also a younger son, John Elmer Wright Ping, who apparently was a telegrapher.

P.I.B. married and had a daughter, Ethel Kate May Ping, who was born in 1881. The family lived in Girard until P.I.B.'s death in 1990. His wife and young daughter then moved back to his wife's family home in Ohio.

Ethel died in 1916 during my mother's birth and her husband died 9 years later, so there are few stories and few memorabilia that have survived.

The only connection my mother had with Girard was through a woman named Sally Barker who made contact with my mother in the late 1930s. Sally Barker had been a close friend of the Pings in Girard.

Any info about the Pings during their Girard years would be appreciated, as well as info about Sally Barker. (Could she have been related to Captain J.D. Barker of the Citizens' Bank in Girard?)
