Herman P. Bible age 17, married Lillie Harmon age 15, in Tennessee abt 1903 and they moved to Kiowa abt 1909. By 1915 in Mullinville, they had 5 children: Burvellee, Frank, Estella, Ermin and Lowell. But something wasn't quite right. Although Lowell was only 2 mo old, Herman wasn't living w/ the family. He was boarding in Pratt w/ the VanVrankins whose wife Maud he would apparently run off w/ and marry in the 1920's. (The VanVrankins had been in Mullinville at least in 1912.) Working for the RR in Pratt, he met my great aunt Catherine (Kitty) Preston Lee, a stenographer, who he briefly married in 1917, but divorced before he registered for the draft in 1918. And then of course there was Maud Vanvrankin who left her husband by 1920 as Herman was boarding with her, her daughter and his oldest son Frank in Herington, Dickinson, while still maintaining a residence in Pratt, not far from his former wife Catherine. By 1930, he was married to Maud. My question. What happened in Mullinville for him to leave his 1st wife with 5 small children? Why did Catherine his 2nd wife divorce him also in 1918? Catherine died 3 years later. ?????Does anyone know the story?
